Guys, Need your advice...
At work, i work as a lead web developer for a marketing agency in city centre.
Im really considering handing in my notice and starting my own private web design service. Obviously times will be hard when the work isnt there, but money should be good when it is.
What your reckon? Go for it? Or stick it out here on a measly wage doing a shit load of work.
IM 17 By the way, Sometimes i work from 8 am until 2 am the next morning on projects that need to go out, its depressing.
HELP!!!

Money will be much better, although there's certain things you won't be able to do, like poach clients (this is all written into your current contract), etc...
It's always worth doing in my opinion, but maybe start your own company while you have a day job and build it up a bit before quiting. Get a bit of money behind you.
Get a business plan, get down the bank and speak to a new business advisor....

If I were you mate, I would firstly find a better paid job, because even junior web site designers can potentially earn a minimum of £18k!
As for the business idea, as Tim says, do it while you have a day job, because if it all goes tits up, then at least you will still have a steady source of income (this is what I used to do).

I realise what your saying guys. The problem i have though is if i carry on with the day job, with my active social life i have no time to do any work outside my day job. And as its an agency, sometimes im required to stay until early hours of morning as i mentioned.
Theyre being pricks at work at mo, and i just got a big project in, and i just wanna be able to say, fk ya, im off.

No, no overtime is paid because agency work is agency work. And your required to do the amount of hours it takes to do the job. If i work 100 hours in a week, i get paid exactly the same as 37.5 hours or 40 hours.

well you gotta start somewhere i am afraid.. i had to do shitty hours last year and now got another job monday to friday. end of the day ur 17 and 12k ain't too bad.

Which would take you below the minimum wage if you divide hours worked by money paid.......sur there ass

Cant, minimum wage applies to 18 and over mate. Sometimes i end up earning 1.50 an hour as LEAD WEB DEVELOPER if you work out my hours, its appalling.

In that case your a young worker and should not be doing night sift etc.... and are entitled to 14 hours rest between shifts

now u mention that.. hmm yeah pretty shite.. just look for somethin else. theres loadsa about on jobserve. don't do the self employment thing yet cos u only 17. get some company experience

What sort of money do you expect to get paid? You're only 17, obviously not much experience or qualifications behind you, you're lucky to be on the money you're on. You just have to work through the shittiness, it's all part of building up experience.
You won't be able to get a business loan or grant because you're too young.
You might think it isn't fair but that's life!

Working time regulation:
Ypung worked - aged 16 and 17
6. The following regulation shall be inserted after regulation 5 -
" Maximum working time for young workers
5A. - (1) A young worker's working time shall not exceed -
(a) eight hours a day, or
(b) 40 hours a week.
(2) If, on any day, or, as the case may be, during any week, a young worker is employed by more than one employer, his working time shall be determined for the purpose of paragraph (1) by aggregating the number of hours worked by him for each employer.
(3) For the purposes of paragraphs (1) and (2), a week starts at midnight between Sunday and Monday.
(4) An employer shall take all reasonable steps, in keeping with the need to protect the health and safety of workers, to ensure that the limits specified in paragraph (1) are complied with in the case of each worker employed by him in relation to whom they apply."
