Yeah that's what I'll do, although it's tempting to get one...

Prices have plummeted, I want one. Hope my TV breaks before the end of my warranty so I can get one for free.

You must teach us all how to copy and paste so well.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Would be daft to buy one now, with little to no 4K content (particularly live content) available.
By the time it is available, you'll be able to buy a better quality TV for less money.

Yes, surely if you have a 4K TV you have an internet connection.

I'll be happy to put money that from 8-10ft you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between 1080p and 4k on anything smaller than 50".

Better tell that to manufacturers wasting time putting high res screens in phones and laptops.

True though, what the hell is the point in a super high res screen on a portable screen?
It's all marketing bullshit because more numbers must mean it's better.
We should do a Pepsi challenge type thing and see if people really can tell the difference from a certain distance.

There was a 4K TV in a bestbuy here running a demo-reel and it looks absolutely fantastic on a 55" panel. Your comment is bang on though, but the improvement in resolution simply allows us to run bigger screens so if/when I do buy one - it'll be a big old telly!
I won't be investing for a while though, due to the aforementioned content shortages and stuff like that. It does make sense to buy them once the tech has matured a bit.

Re the whole distance thing, bullshit.
Your standard consumer, maybe, anyone who buys at the bleeding edge, the difference is massive.
Because you/everyone else can't see, doesn't mean it isn't there.

This!!
Was watching a clip for a while, impressed with the detail and colour etc. Shortly after I had noticed I could make out the face of the pilot passing by in a plane I turned around and real life in John Lewis looked a bit well... shit.
Strange feeling.
