Anyone managed to barter a few quid off there insurance?
Had quite a good quote from an insurance company the other day but fancy knocking them down a couple quid. Anyone got any tips?

Just tell them you've had cheaper quotes but would like to go with them as you have heard good things about them and the policy looks more appealing.

Some are the same, you will need to research that 1st before rattling off a company. Even still, its common for the same companies to quote different prices but just to be on the safe side, find a company that isn't linked.
They might also ask for a policy number, so have a random 1 to hand.

Brentacre wanted £700 for my Cupra.
I told them I'm getting quotes for £300, the guy sounded like he didn't believe me and asked me to send him screenshots so I did. Two days later, he calls me offering £390 which I accepted.

Admiral try it on every year. Renewal came in at 7k. Paid just under 4k in the end. But they even admitted they couldn't get it that cheap through a renewall so started a fresh policy with them. (5 cars on policy)

I inquired about swapping cars on my policy with admiral, they said they wanted £290 on top of the £480 I had just paid them at renewal the week before. I said it was more than I was hoping to spend to which he applied a "loyalty discount" (complete bollocks) and dropped it to £100 more. £190 off for stating I didn't want to spend that much.
Ended up sticking with the original car but there you go. Admiral are onto the trick of other quotes a little bit, I tried for more but he asked me who the cheaper quote was from then reeled off a list of things they charge extra for etc. Take a little time for some research and it could really pay off in your favour

My brother paid £3.7k on his first years insurance. Absolute madness but fortunately he was able to afford the luxury.
I wouldn't say £4k is steep considering there are 3 hot hatches on the policy, 2 holders under 21 and the cars are all insured in the correct places I.e. open car parks on army barracks etc.

I suppose I was paying £1800 for my Nova GTE at 18 so 4k for couple of hot hatches etc probably isn't that bad when you break it down.

what???
I pay monthly, the quotes I were getting were for straight up payment. Hence why the extra monies.
Still alot better than the £700 they wanted. Fuck was I gonna pay that, more than my 206 GTi was costing.

I've done this before too. Quotes for £500'ish, get a quote from a company I WANT to insure with (better approach to mods, etc) and they can only get as low as £600 (started at £850) - but I take it anyway.
It's not always black and white case of taking the cheapest quote.

Well that's that sorted.
Eventually managed to get a nice cheap quote off a company. Who then rang me to confirm the quote. I managed to knock a further £100 off the quote and got free legal protection and injury protection
