Seems a few folk on here are in to their PC games. My question is, am I better going to the likes of PC Specialist or Overclockers to build me one, or try and buy it all separate? I'm hopeless with PC's. Truly hopeless. But I just want one to play DayZ

Also, ideally it would be built for 600 quid. More than likely that'll be without a monitor, I know.

dayz is pretty demending tbh.
i have a i7-920Do clocked to 3.8ghz, 6gb ddr3 1600 and a 680ti 2gb and it runs it at about 30-40fps on lowest of settings (we are talking about the standalone right?)

Yeah, it'll be for the alpha then the standalone when its finally finished. I imagined it would be pretty heavy on systems tbh

I've looked in to that, and seemingly that'll be happening after the PC version, which could be a while away Even then, that's if it goes down well on the PC. I could also wait and get a steam box, but I'm an impatient fucker and want it now

Ok, I think I've got the spec I want. Using an i5 4440, a GeForce GTX 750ti and Asus H81. But regarding HD, I could get a Seagate Barracuda 1TB HD, or go for a Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD. Obviously the latter is far better, but worth the extra 40 quid?

I use an SSD for my os. 240gb and thdn a 500gb drive for my games n shit.
Id say they are worth that little bit extra but just make sure you dont use hibernation mode, it fucks them.

If you aren't confident enough then either get a mate who is or Overclockers seem good on the money.

I've thrown a spec together from doing some research last night, and I think I'll have both a 1 TB HD and a 120GB SSD. Now I've just got to decide if I should get Windows pre-loaded? Think my maw has a windows 7 premium disc in the house, so don't see the need when I could add to the spec with the 70 quid?

Make sure too shop around ! Amazon so far have been really good for parts. Some may only be 5-10£ cheaper but all together you could save your self a decent amount

I thought that too having a look around tbh. But I'd end up destroying something Maybe when it comes to upgrading it I'll give it a go when I know more.

Handy link that, thanks But it comes to about a tenner less than from OC, and I won't get the warranty that I'd get with them. Ideal for future upgrades etc though

I upgraded my PC the other day, didn't need hard disk/case as thats already sorted:
Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II 3GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
G--Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 Dual Kit - Red
Intel Core i5-4670K S1150 3.4GHz 6MB
Asus Z97-A S1150 Intel Z97 DDR3 ATX
Its pretty fast and nice, ready for some OC.

120GB on the SSD can be taken up really quick, even more so if you decide to put some of your games on there for faster loading times (though I read its not that noticeable) - with prices coming down so much I would opt for a Samsung 250gb ssd all day long.
Windows 7 isn't just a case of using someone elses CD/Key, it needs activating online. If you aren't up to scratch with using DAZ Loader and not installing the Windows Updates that will fuck over your pirated copy, I'd suggest you just buy it preloaded. To buy Windows 7 Pro 64bit from ebuyer its currently £85 ex vat.

No point in pro imo
Home is all you need, its all i use. Pro just adds shit you dont need and just slows the machine more.
Infact my pc looks like win98 to increase performance.

I wasn't meaning a pirated copy willay, I was meaning a copy of OEM Win 7. Can't see any upside to spending twice as much on a full 7 install?
