so i sold my corsa gsi c20xe turbo 586bhp as i simply didn't use it, and I've just sold my bmw e46 330d m sport. this leaves me with my current vehicle which is a t4 transporter, which is great actually, unusually way more economical than my bmw and half the price to insure.
so I've got a space in my garage basically. id like to get something that won't particularly cost massive amount of money to buy, but is also on the edge of being a classic so the value is quite stable. much like my transporter really.

these are just examples of what I'm thinking of. i don't want to modify an engine extensively. I'm ok at doing a restore project, as long as the shell is solid enough to begin with. not particularly looking for anything newer that either of those cars, i don't need masses of power, I'm looking at classic minis as well.
suggestions would be great

Any old hot hatch is going to hold its value so you need to get something that you always wanted to get when you were younger. I was in a similar position this year and chose an E36 M3 as its one of my all time favourite cars and will hopefully become a classic.
There's loads of cars to chose from.
Any old ford
Sought after nova models
Crx sir
R5 gtt
Clio Williams
Mk1 and mk2 golfs
The list is endless really. Depending on your budget there also cars like scooby P1s and the likes which are almost certainly going to become true classics and go up in value.
Wouldn't get a mini though

Lots of choice, if you looking for a stable value or even an investment it might be worth paying slightly more for one with fewer miles.
Can't see that Astra losing much more though, even at 150k. Nor the Golfs although personally they do nothing for me.

Corrado mate, you know it makes sense, i can find you a good one, solid engines, great handling, not that expensive to buy, mod and run, just people are scared imo.
Its a proper car ownership, none of this own a 5-10yr old car for 3yrs and only change the lights and wheels and some simple interior trim swapping.
They are just starting to increase in value for good ones.
