Mate of a mate has some very cool cars, mk1 golf gti campaign, mini cooper, vw camper and a mk4 golf r32..

Chatting about cars in the pub last night and i was pissed so told him his golf had shit haldex and its not proper 4wd - as in permament, rears are only transfered power when the fronts lose grip - and it can be unpredictable.

He said i was wrong and that it was permanent with a 60-40 split....

At the time i googled quickly haldex and proved my point that haldex is shit, but the r32 was not listed on wiki as having it - just the 4motion..

So i accepted i was wrong..

But on waking today i think i was right, and this seems to back me up:

Am i right?

Yes, same system as the TT and S3.

It may not be as good as permanent 4wd but it's designed to be there when needed and be fuel efficient.

It uses Haldex yes but it's far from shit. It's just different to traditional quattro.

Quattro is better.

I don't know why the A3 3.2 quattro doesn't have as good a rep as the R32.

Father just bought the A3 3.2 and it's an awesome car.

I think its one of them gossipy clueless facts that people repeat to sound cool.

Like people saying don't get an rx8 they only last 70k.

Haldex isn't one thing btw. Haldex is a company with various products, some more highly regarded than others. Haldex does not equal crap 4x4.

I've got a brand new fiesta that costs more than a used m3. Your logic is retarded.

Btw it's convertible. Who said they want one of those? Coupe, yes, convertible, no way.

Yea because owning an ///M3 doesnt have any inherent runnings costs... Just admit it sweaty, you cant afford one - relax and move on

You sound like Barnes now, spurting out silly false statements. Move on, it's boring.

All cars have running costs, not just m3's.

I just like winding john up and seeing him get spiteful.

Still rather have a mk4 r32 though. They make a lovely noise.

By own your own home I'm guessing you mean mortgage rather than rent?

Yes mate, no different to most other people my age. Still had to save up the 20k+ for a deposit and moving costs.

So saying I can't afford a 6k M3 is rather silly.

26 currently, bought at 21. Very frightening at the time, but by far the best thing i've done in terms of investment and independence.
