Gave the windscreen a good going over with Ceri-Glass as it's quite badly scratched... then unfortunately cancelled the insurance and declared it SORN! Also ordered a car cover. Any recommendations what else to do to it as it's going to be sitting there and not driven for at least 6 months most probably.

Leave the handbrake off if you can, stop it from seizing.

Topped up the washer fluid. Its been empty for the past week and I've had to play the "find a truck kicking out spray to clean the windows" game

My Mum's car has sat on the drive for the past 11 years. In that time has done 4k.

I used it a few weeks ago when mine was off the road and put petrol in it instead of diesel Think i put around £9 in it before realizing what i was doing. Brimmed it with diesel and still runs

Support the car on axle stands with wheels off the ground. Pop a couple of moisture traps in it. Start it every week.

The only thing regarding starting it up from time to time... it's now uninsured so was thinking of taking the battery out. Unless there's something easier I can do in case someone decides to try and nick the bugger!

Just park it up and leave it, starting it weekly but not driving anywhere isn't really the best thing for it IMO.

Had both my GSi and 106 GTi laid up in the garage for 12 months, went back to them, pumped the tyres, charged the battery and they started and ran fine.

Been on mine everyday for months, built an engine, cleaning the bay, removed ABS, fitting modern ABS, sorting the wiring, replacing most of it.

Vectra - made sure it was still in the garage. Still there, not burnt out, eaten or missing. Seems ok.

Mazda - scraped the rear door after forgetting I had a spanner sticking out of my overall leg pocket as I got into it. Whoops.
