Incorrect.
A vehicle with no road tax should not be on our public roads.

You think vehicles with no tax are fine? Strange.

That's not what I said.
To clarify what I meant:
1. There's no way you would get out of it because they didn't have tax, life, and the laws in this country, don't work that way.
2. It will most definitely be the opposite of what Andrew says it is.

A person shouldn't shoplift but doing so doesn't make it ok to put their windows through.

The owner of the car may get fined for having no tax but it shouldn't stop them claiming if you hit them.

Not me. Mrs had a small bump with a car. Was a real shitter, wood screws holding the mirrors on etc.
Got a quote for damage to his and it was about 600 quid, car was worth 200 quid max. Anyway was bugging me that so much money needed to be spent on something so shit so I went and offered for me to fix the corner of the bumper back on etc. So I did, gave it a bit of a spray and he was happy. I noticed whilst doing it it had not tax though

To be fair I don't. But it was sporting a 31/10 disc and going by its condition it wouldn't surprise me if that was accurate.

Looks fairly obtuse and contradictory to me.
ps. You can't just hit cars because they have no tax and expect not to sort it. You still need third party liability cover for anything you damage which isn't yours.
pps. Old disc means nothing, my brother has put his 2003 disc back in his from when it was new. Truck still has a 2009 disc stuck on with an anti-tamper holder. Other cars I can't even remember etc. etc.

Askmid works but it's not always accurate. Can sometimes take a while for it to be updated.

It's probably taxed. He's just left the disc in most likely as he wouldn't have got another in the post.
90% of cars i see still have their tax discs in the window.

According to Parkers
quote:
Driving without current tax disc
If a car has no road tax then insurers are still obliged to pay out for all claims. Despite committing an offence by not having tax, this is irrelevant to the accident and the insurer. A car can legally be on the road without tax if it's going to a pre-booked MOT test - during which the insurance is not invalidated.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
