Sat there stationary and a bus is turning across me to go down my right hand side. Whilst doing that he's swiped the front end of the car. Little annoying since I've only had the impreza a few days and now it's all scuffed on the front corner No major damage, bumper seems intact, etc. just paint damage.

The driver stopped, filled out some standard form they have for things like this. Was making out I was being OTT for some scuffs though, which annoyed me.

Just wondering what'd happen next? Is it even worth my while? The form says that it doesn't go against my insurance at all and is all done through them directly by their repair shops. Obviously the "their repair shop" bit makes me nervous a little also

Anyone any experience? It was First buses if that makes a difference.

Just concerned it can turnaround on me somehow

Would I still have to declare it as a non-fault claim etc?

So how did that work. Did you have to pay then provide receipt or did the bodyshop deal directly?

I can imagine bus services having a decent insurance policy. Probably a daily occurrence for them with scufffs, scrapes and crashes.
Let them handle it all but, keep all documents just in case

You can get them to agree costs with a repairer of your choice. They only try to get you in their shop to contain thecost to a decent level.

Got a quote, they agreed I took car to Lemass. They then paid Lemass.
Might be worth messaging tom directly, he deals with Insurance claims regularly

If you don't want to head all the way down south to Lemass, speak to SPA in Cheshire.

I find it weird that people will travel half the country miles out of there way just to go to a particular bodyshop for general body repair work because of internet forum hype.

Yes I used lemass, but only because it happened to be bang on my route to my GF's. Yes the work is fairly good but it wasn't particularly better, or cheaper than any other bodyshop I have used in the past.

Seems that people treat it like a badge of honour, or medal that they had work done at lemass.

I won't be going to Lemass, I'd be going to one a mile down the road I guess people go there because Tom is quite open about his work and posts pics that are very reassuring of his abilities.

What on earth are you on about! Lemass is hour from me, had seen the work he'd done on a Corsa same colour. So chose to go to him.

Badge of honour

If he has admitted fault don't even bother getting your insurance company involved.. Theres no law that says you have to.

When the missus had her fiesta driven into by an old coffin dodger, we went through his insurance.

She phoned up to notify her insurance and they just said thanks and that was it.

I would imagine the bus company self insure if it's a mainstream operator. They May allow you to get the work fixed elsewhere

They have to let you get it fixed elsewhere within reason if that's your decision.
