Hi, I have always brought Bosch super 4s, not only because I think they are good and benefit from 4 electrodes but also because I get them cheap off ebay.

They have always done me rite, Ive brought a 1.4 16v corsa D and it apparently had a 24months service which is excuse not to service it for 2 year. I am getting service tomarrow and well I wont be able to get bosh super 4s from ebay, if I wish to do this have to change them myself. Isit hard to change the plugs?

Also I am not sure if maybe I can buy other upgraded plugs instead from aftermarket places, replacements car parts etc.

What do you guys think of bosh super 4s? any other upgrades would work well with the car? thankx

Just get normal spark plugs. It doesnt make any difference whatsoever

Spark plugs you don't want really want to go cheap on. But as it's a normal 1.4 then as Steve as said just get normal spark plugs. NGK from Halfords are only £17. How much do you pay for the ones off eBay?

Super 4's are shite.

Be known to cause Det.
Irregular spark.
One of the ears falling off and getting wedged between piston and cylinder wall, on valve seat etc.

I meant, usually with Ebay you get shit copies/fakes/cheaply made. I've just got a set which cost £69.36 as cheaper ones/particular makes wont do the same job. No I'm not "willy waving" before anyone suggests.

Not being ripped off, been told that 'Denso' spark plugs are better for the twin charger engined cars (says someone on the Skoda forum) so I'm only going by his word but if they prove to be better then it'll be worth it.

thankx guys, did the service myself was hard to find how certain bits went, eg weird oil filter and hidden spark plugs! but job done, took just 3 hours, lol.

Bear in mind though gents, that not all plug myths are entirely mythical.

The Champions in my RS are Yank made and allegedly the same model of plug that the F40 used.

The (seemingly) UK equivalents (which were distastefully dear), have a very slightly different part number and the bloody things burnt out in no time at all.

I have as yet, been unable to source new replacements for the American ones with the slightly different prefix/suffix. Hence my having to clean and refit the original set after binning the almost new UK ones that were fucked after VERY minimal mileage. (thanks christ I kept the old ones)

But any Bosch or NGK plug (whether cooler, hotter or the same heat rating) that I can cross reference to the original American part number, all come back at some hideous prices.

I've been to the champion spark plug factory on China where they make 70 percent of their plugs. Rest in India

Would never touch one again let say that. 50 percent scrap rate and quite a few shit ones get through quality control.

Was a massive recall due to the ears falling off.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest Gaz.

UK ones seem to be bad enough. Unless the UK stamped ones are actually made in a third world country and the maker's mark is a lie.

Never EVER had to refit old plugs in my life, prior to this situation, but had no choice.

Luckily the old ones were in very good shape and I had only changed them due to age.

So glad I kept them. Finding a definitive match for them in either NGK or Bosch is problematic at best. And will be very dear to boot.

My previous governor loathed Champion plugs and only ever stocked or bought NGK.

I'm beginning to see why.

Crazy really that such an established brand has such poor quality control.

It's a bit like finding out that Castrol make terrible oil
