Cut the sheets to size first then use warm water with a tiny bit of washing up liquid to apply them.
Squeegee out any bubbles.

I have tinted windows before and got great results, if you can buy pre-cut ones off e-bay it makes life a million times easier

Only problem with pre cut tint is you only get 1 shot to not fuck it up.
I've fitted a sunstrip before which was straight forward enough so window tint can't be much harder. Soapy water in a spray bottle and a squeegee thing makes it easier.

In that case I would bash on and DIY it. No biggie if it goes wrong.
I wouldn't listen to John either. We've all seen the results of the work he pays to get done. Window tinting will be a walk in the park.

Diy is fairly easy, as stated get some fairy liquid in a water bottle. Use a nice clean environment to apply and cut the tint on the outside of the vehicle then move inside the car. Make sure the outside and inside glass is clean as you can get it as the tint picks up dirt really, really easily.Plenty of water and a steady hand. Once the tint has been positioned correctly and the protective layer is off one side, apply it and move it round to make it sit right. Finally squeegee it so the water comes out then apply some heat to the film from a hair dryer to dry any water that hasn't squeegeed out.

Best way around the curved screen is th cover the outside of the screen in talc, lay your film over on the outside, cut to shape then warm and mould the film to the window with a heat gun, then when it's nice and flat put it on the inside.

Hahaha.
He also said that we would actually get on in real life and off the Internet. Haha.
Did you tint the window in the end?
