I'm not sure if I ever shared these photos with you lot but I recently re-discovered them!
Its another prime example of why getting strapped up on a car can become a serious regret.
In June last year my Father in-law recovered this 6 month old BMW 1-Series M Sport (around £30k's worth at the time), the owner had gone to the pub with his mates and decided he was too drunk to drive home so he gave one of his mates the keys and said "Drive me home".. His mate took the scenic route home which involved a hump-back bridge and a prompt expiration of driving talent which resulted in the car getting slight modified:
While his mate was insured he was only insured 3rd party and due to police involvement the insurance company wouldn't pay out for the car as they knew the owner wasn't driving.
He'll be paying for his night out for a LONG time.
You know you've had a good crash when it was hard enough to break the satnav/media display:
I would have taken photos of the exterior but do to the police/insurance involvement I wasn't allowed
The only straight panel was an offside side-skirt and one alloy was un-touched.

How is the fact it's financed any issue? Surely he would be just 30k out of pocket in one go if he was like you 'Davey Cash'

£30k he'd already spent though.. And knowing he'd spent 30k he might have been a bit more fucking precious about it

No different though is it! 30k is 30k weather it was paid last month or over the next 5 years!
Fair enough if you would rather pay in one go but your personal preference does not make the whole scheme wrong. I'm still not sure how you think the car industry would go if no one could get finance on new cars?

Not really because the significance of £30k to someone who can simply whop it out of the bank in cash is slightly less significant to someone who is strapped up with no savings.

The bags have been cut out too so they don't get in the way when recovering, it would have been like a Dunelm helm Mill show room before they cut the gazillion airbags out.

Could end up in the same position with having Un declared mods on the financed vechile if you crashed, no pay out and then still have to pay the car off.. Probably just get another one and pay that off along side the one you don't have.

Blatant disregard for money and own property. No sympathy. Hope he's paying for it over 5 years.

Sorry, your T4 Project had me misguided, I saw stickers, things hanging from the rear-view mirror and read about DIY window tints which lead me to believe people must still shop for car modifications at Halfords?

Depends which way you look at it... People seem more blasé about high value stuff that is on tick.
If he was carrying around a suitcase with £30k in cash I doubt he would have gone out drinking with it and eventually handed it to his mate saying 'here you go, make sure this gets home ok".
