Been after a new car for a while and these have always been high up on my list so thought I'd finally get one. Other options were the usual E46 M3 or e92 335 and looked at some mercs but I've always had beemers and fancied a change. Just love how stupid these cars are, a 6.0 v8, big seats and a wortec exhaust and that's it. No clever mechanics, just an old school type of car and suits what I wanted perfectly.
Very dirty but these were just some quick pics this morning. Pics don't really show how long these things are
Love it so far, does obviously feel heavy but pulls like a train and the back end is VERY twitchy. The exhaust sounds the nuts as well

Everyone into cars seem to know exactly what these are and love them, although you hardly ever see them about. Everybody else haven't got a clue what it is. Very soon after saying I've bought a Vauxhall, I've got to say that it's a 6.0 v8
I absolutely love it

I really want one also, I'd rebadge it as a Holden though

Only realised earlier that there isn't a Vauxhall badge on the front and there's only the Vauxhall lettering on the boot so it doesn't bother me, doesn't even bother me anyway being a Vauxhall.
the only issue I have with the car is the Vauxhall steering wheel, isn't the nicest but the interior is nice apart from that and very comfy. A proper 4 seater car with plenty of room.

Thanks. Always been a car that I've wanted.
Was sick of people saying the usual why don't you buy an M3. Sick of seeing them and wanted something different. My other car is a 330ci so just seemed pointless getting another 3 series, I've had about 8 of them

I had a 5.7 monaro in silver. Seriously fun car to drive. With an exhaust system on it i found i was driving every where with the window down!
Capable of some fairly efficient motorway cruising speeds too

It has the wortec on so it does sound nice
At 70mph it sits at 1800rpm lol. Are they 180mph+?
It seems to tick so many boxes, not sure why more people don't buy them.

Thanks guys, not often when CS agrees with choice of cars
Been years since I've seen one but I know now that I'm going to see them all the time. Luckily though they only brought over 800 monaros to the uk and around half of them being vxr's so shouldn't see too many around.

500 quid tax and about 10 to the gallon probably makes them a bit cost prohibitive to most

10 to the gallon is utter shite! unless driving like a tit the whole time.
On average mine returned 19mpg on a motorway run would be 25mpg. (if driven normally)
I know they are capable of an indicated 170 mph. How i know this i ll leave up to your imagination.
These are much better on fuel than my current V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee that does 12mpg.
Its the only car i ve had that people ask about it and give you a thumbs up.

Walkinshaw and Monkfish are the main two, if you ask people its almost a 50/50 split as to who they prefer.. i went with Monkfish for the VXR8. There is another company, cant remember their name, something like V8UKs i think.
Sadly i sold the big girl a while back, doing nearly 100miles a day commute was just costing a fortune in petrol. although i did manage an average of 22.7mpg over the 4 years of ownership !!! so not as bad as people think.
One of my mates (used to be on here too) S1MON has a 6.0 Monaro VXR and hes stuck with Monkfish too, good company and normally carry every spare part you could wish for.

I've always fancied a Monaro or a HSV the problem is no other bugger knows what it is, they just assume its some kind of Omega Coupe, plus you'll never be able to drive past a petrol station without stopping again
