The Audi is having 2 new tyres fitted romorrow and I've went for uniroyal rainsport 3s going on a few folks recommendations.
Anyone on here used them before??
I'm getting them for £195 fitted which I thought was a very good deal.

Had Rainsport 2's on the Subaru and they were the worst of the 5 brands of tyre that I used on that car. Really odd feeling on turn-in like they were under inflated, seemed to add a latency to the steering.
Conti Sport Contact 5, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 2s, Bridgestone RE050s and R888's all much better tyres.
Rainsport 3's may be totally differerent/revised so will be interested to know what you think

Used them on my old Corsa B, then my Fabia vRS and now fitted a 3rd set on the missus' Leon FR. I think they're great value, decent grip levels, fantastic in the wet (as you'd expect) and pretty cheap - I got all 4 for her 17s for about £180 delivered.
Edit: After reading Kyle's post above, the Corsa and Fabia had Rainsport 2's fitted, the Leon is on Rainsport 3's. Never had a problem with any of them, but also never went on track. They are quite soft and with very large tread blocks to displace the water, so that may explain the 'loose' feeling Kyle had in block movement?

To add a bit more context, it's fair to note that the Contis, Bridgestones and ofc R888 were much more expensive - but the Vreds' if I remember right were slightly cheaper.
The Vredsteins were the standout tyre when price is factored in.
I never took the Rainsports on track, just road driving. It was a big heavy car, I'm sure with different cars and suspension setups the tyres may be better or worse.

Uniroyal are made by conti. They are one of their budget lines.

A guy with a z4m had them on his car and raved about them. He's a bit cheap
I'd stick to known brands like vredestein, Hankooks, Goodyear etc.

most people wouldn't have heard of vredestien, or probably even hankook. Should add Pirelli, continental and Michelin to your Goodyear list and scrap the rest.

That's funny, considering Hankook's are standard fit on the new audi tt's, last time I checked. Probably on a load of other cars too.
Your tyre knowledge is lacking. Brush up, please.

It doesn't matter, the common man from the street doesn't come in asking for a hankook. They have no idea what it is, or what is fitted to their new car from the factory.

The common man wants the cheapest tyre available, so your suggestions of premium brands are way off the mark also.

Rubbish, the common man will go for the mid price or most expensive. The cheap ass, cheap car owning man will buy the budgets if they have any brains at all. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Uniroyals wear very quickly apparently
It does my head in talking about tyres as everyone says that theirs are the best.
I always use Goodyear Eagle F1 - Assymetric 2 at the moment but will go to the brand new Assymetric 3 soon

I'd class my mate in work as the common man, albeit knowledgeable about car stuff.
He isn't a tight ass. He bought a 320I from a dealer at an inflated price, then spent £1500 taking it to bmw to fix the ecu. He then asked the tyre guy in a shop near him to fit whatever's cheapest. Some obscure linglong type brand I've never heard of.
As far as he's concerned, tyres are tyres.

Iv got rainsport 3s on the rear of my BMW, seem fine with about 230bhp going through them
Good mid range tyre
Iv got rainsport 2 s on my mx5 track car which are great but not really comparable as it's very light

Goodyear or Hankook for me.
Hankook v12 evo was an excellent tyre,
I'm impressed with the Goodyear efficient grips I fitted to my Audi though

I used to swear by Hankook V12 Evo's until they stopped making then for the now Evo2's. I am now using Bridgestone Potenza RE002 and have proved awesome!

I went round a bend with some tyres once and car skidded, so i never bought them tyres again, i get the non-skid ones now.
I get through so many tyres i just try them all, and tbh don't really notice a massive difference to shout home about. I won't go for the ones with weird streetfighter type names, some of the more expensive ones just wear out too quick for a daily.
I do wonder about these people who bang on about road tyres on a daily as if they are part of mclaren racing team.
