Just heard some lad at work saying his mate have a few of these in his tank at home, and thought what a cool pet.
Just wondering if anyone on hear keeps them or knows anyone who does just to get a bit of info. Been stuggling to find any info on keeping them.

if u wanna have a family of em, u have to buy em young and bring em up with each other, mix two old ones and they will kill each other.
U can also get vegetarian ones......

they're nothing like what they made out to be like. Just eat meat, not each other, very rare they bite you, can put your hands in no problem, Ive had them before, got bored though!

How much are we talking for the fish and a decent tank to keep them in? also what did you actually feed them. The kid at work was saying his mate feeds his dead mice and all sorts, but didn't know whether he was just winding me up

there were some being sold at a place near me for £15 each, and there were 2 together. Only little'uns though!
Decent sized tank is going to cost you atleast £100 with heater, filter etc!

Need a big tank, like 4'! Fish are onlt bout £5 each for 2" fish! Cheap, tank setup is most cost, need good high power filters as they messy fish. Also you feed them frozen food, from fish shop like beefheart and stuff. Easy really.

Yeah a 9ft monitor lizard, he has a 6ft iguana too, but thats lame in comparision. His house is like a zoo, smells rank too....

If you wana do it properly its gona cost for a full tank setup, cabinet and qulaity stuff £300 really should be the budget, you'll have no problems after that! Want me price you some stuff up, my setups cost around that price, well worth it!

I used to have 12 red bellied Phirana's, they are a really shy fish so dont expect much action from them.
They are also very messy fish so a top of the range filter is needed to stop the tank going all green and shitty.

Best to feed them blood worms. Get one of the hover fish cant think of there names, they help clean the tank from the left over meat etc... Also they Pirahna wont attack it.

Tank heater hood lights and filters looking at a ball park figure of £330, external filters, powerful, best for messy fish.
As for bottom feeding fish, get a plec, armour plated thing, grows big but indestuctable!

£330 is good price paid nearly that for my tank lol
Get some bog wood and dark areas for them as well. they will hate an open tank
