Not a great deal of difference in performance but I do believe that it is better quality and much better for the engine. Meant to lift off all the carbon crap off and clean the fuel system!

The more you use it the greater the benifits. You won't notice much after the first re-fill. It's after time, you start to feel more smooth!

Won't make any difference power wise as vaux ecu's would need to be remapped to the higher octane! Adam's i can imagine is mapped to higher octane and will benefit alot from higher octane fuel, it will however create a smoother engine and clean all bits n bobs out

dont know if i am on my own...but i heard that its bad news, saw it on some forum about half a year ago that it ruins the engine removing all the protective coke. Sum fella was left with a big bill for his Astra GTE and the mechanic and engineers report pointed towards the petrol. Last thing i heard was he was trying to sue Shell. Look for it on the net somewhere i am sure of it...

so thats put me off using optimax straight away

yeah coz if it removes all the carbon, this could be clogging up potential holes etc and removing them with optimax will start problems if it removes it

Dont worry big eck. The Astra GTE was probably about 20 years old. Newer cars are fine with it. I use it most times i fill up, i get better MPG and smoother acceleration through the gears. Its good shit in other words. By all means, it WONT damage your car.
