right ive just read cobras painting guide, it looks straight forward but 1 thing im not sure on

once uve painted the part, it says if ur painting in a metalic paint rub it down with 1200 grade then apply lacquer, is this right?

if its painted then rub it down again, wont the scratch marks see through the lacquer?

I thought this and didn't rub it down before laxquering it. Mine looks ok. I think if you do rub it downbeofre lacquering it, use the wet n dry wet to make it perfectly smooth, however im not 100% sure as like I said I didn't bother doing this.

Your not gonna get marks from 1200 grade paper. Rub it down lightly in soapy water. Believe me, it will give you a finish smoother than glass.
If you have two painted items, try rubbing one but not the other, you'll be amazed at the difference in the final finish.

Are you taking the panel off to paint it? If so, once you've undone the four screws, disconnect the heater control cables, but note where they go, the complete unit will lift out then with vents knobs etc intact.
The knobs will need removing and there may be two more screws to undo behind the middle of the panel.

Does the air con knob increase the difficulty of removing the front fascia?

It makes no difference to removing the fascia complete, but the bloody knob is a pain to get off. After several attempts, I can now get it off without breaking the shaft it sits on.

I'm guessing that if you can take the front fascia off, then you can mask up the air-con knob to spray the rest ok? Ideally I would spray the fascia Star silver and the knobs all Polar Sea blue.

Vauxhall or breakers yard. Shouldn't be a problem sourcing a second hand one, as all Corsa's have them

There are 4 clips holding it on at the back which need to be removed before it comes out. They are the heater control cables
