No you don't, how do lotus' pass, they only have a can of tyre weld, as do Clio V6's etc.
Edit: I think possibly then, if you have a spare in there, then it has to be legal, so easy solution is take the wheel out for the MOT and leave the tyre weld in the wheel well.

YOU DO NOT NEED A SPARE WHEEL
IF YOU HAVE ONE IT DOESNT NEED TO BE LEGAL.
SPARE WHEEL ONLY COMES INTO MOT WITH REGARD SECURITY

Ainsleys right, its the same with indicators - if u have them they must be within legal requirements; not be bald, have nails in them and must be correctly inflated and fitted within the car - so as to not cause a safety hazard -
however if u dont have them - u r okay as well - its an, if uve got them they have to be in working order - if u havnt it doesnt matter situation

The only thing I can see them failing it for is if the spare is mounted under the car in some french/italian cars if the mounting is insecure.

Drew I would reccomend you check your facts.
There is no law or MoT requirements concerning the carrying of bald tyres within the car.
The only time spare wheel comes into MoT is with the question of security if its mounted underneath the vehicle.
