I am thinking of buying one of these, it'll be a Vectra B, P to S reg, depending on the deal I get offered.
What are they like to drive? They're about 170bhp aren't they?
Any known problems with this car?
Cheers!

id more than likly say sri to behonest as u'll really get stung on insurance for the gsi, and the sri's are easily tuned to a gsi spec

I have been weighing up the pro's and con's of both. I can't be arsed with spending ££££s on modding my car or getting a Corsa.
I have decided to go for a Vectra V6, as I can now afford the insurance and I want something 'fully loaded'. Especially A/C!
Chris - GSi is a bit out of my price range!

You want a 99 model onwards if possible, This is when lotus redesigned the suspension. handling on Vectras is awful in general.
The 2.5V6 Has 170bhp and 1701b/ft torque. In gear acceleration is pretty good and it has a nice fat powerband. However the engine is quite unresponsive at low revs as it has a 15kg flywheel!. Forget 1st gear acceleration it does not exist THe power delivery is very smooth but these engines lack punch. I timed a few 30-70 through gears in low 7`s. One thing the V6 vectra is good at is motorway cruising, it is effortless and the car will reach silly speeds above 100 quite easily.
To give the car a better pick up and make it a bit more punchy the following mods are essential.
Remap > nasty flat spot around 3k revs
Injector clean
Air box and induction rework > designed to be very quiet to eliminante induction roar, easy to mod.
Performance high flow filter
Reworked high flow throttle body and inlet centre section
4 bar fuel pressure regulator
Lightened Flywheel 2.5 (9 kg reduction)
The only difference between the V6Sri and V6Gsi is that the Gsi uses the exhaust cams from the 3.0 omega giving it an extra 20 bhp.

Handling won't really be a problem as I will get a set of lowering springs and decent gas shocks on it, with 17s.
As for flywheel - doesn't apply to me, as I'm going for an auto!

As long as you dont expect big Punch V6 performance from it then. Superb for motorway cruising and quite refined but doesnt really feel like much of a performance car.

Yeah I was looking at the CDX, as I want an auto, and you obviously can't get the SRi/GSi with an auto box!

I've driven both a Vectra Gsi and Sri and i think that the Sri is a lot quicker lower down the revs than the Gsi but yeah i would go for either of these models, really nice engines and cars to drive

Why buy one? They are pretty much the worst car in their class? They depreciate like petrol won't be around tomorrow!?
They handle like a barge, they aren't fast with any standard engine, they aren't comfortable, the interior is a disaster??
It has nice headlights, thats the only thing they have going for them.
You'be be better off with a BMW coupe. A 318is would be good.

I believe they were voted worst saloon by the motoring press some years ago?
Leather recaros may well be nice but the rest of the interior is foul. What is going on with the dashboard??!
Handling doesn't compare to any car in its class.
