Right heres how it goes.
I have a Corsa 1.4 16V Sport, and wanna 2.0 16V engine in it.
My girlfriends bro wants a Astra GSi look-a-like, but insurance would be a killer at 17.
I have suggested that he could buy a Astra 2.0 GSi, and we could swap engines. This way he would have all the Gsi kit, interior e.t.c. and have a decent size engine for insurance.
Heres the question.
I know my insurance would go up quite a bit. (Corsa Sport with 2.0 16V). HOWEVER, would his insurance decrase much? (1.4 16V Astra GSi)
Anyone done an engine transplant but decreased the engine size?
My dad would do the work, as he owns a garage specialising in Vauxhalls.
Cheers
Alex.

and while we are on the subject, making a car look faster then it is by using parts from a higher model is GAY! like red_sxi shoving on SRI badges, but i believe he has seen the light and is getting rid of them

insurance would probably see the astra as a gsi and book it for same engine as standard, as its been registered and undoubtedly insured previously before as a 2 litre and not many people do engine decreases..Im just clutchin at straw's like but i'd recon he'd be better makin a low engine astra look like a gsi...but that leave's you with the engine problem

Insurance is based on the car the engine came from, not the size of the engine.
And why not have a 1.4 16v in a mk3 Astra? They come as standard on the later model mk3's.

Yeah! Did you not see it at Hemel mate?
I'll ask him if he's online later, for a pic of his engine for you?
