I've got two scoota's. One of them (Purrrple one ) i've used for about 4 years every day to and from London. Clocked up (on a single cylinder 125cc (1996 N REg)) 40,000 miles roughly. Got a boot on it, everything. I decided to get a new one for travelling to london and took my full test and have been using my new bike. I stopped riding the old scoota at the start of the year.

Anyway

Next door neighbour popped ova to ask if i still ahd it as his mate was interested. I pumped up the tyres, rolled it out of the garage. Knew it wasn't gonna fire up. But, a few kick starts later and it bloody started no probs. Turned it off, turned it on at switch and no problems.

Done me so well, i shall be sad to see it go

My ol' man used to use a lil scootie for communting into his work, then some little sh*t nicked it one day and he never bothered replacing it.

Couldn't believe it fired up so quick. Needs an exhaust gasket, sounds a bit loud at the mo

Bikes, well, scootas are without doubt the best mode of transport in london. My new one is a lot faster than my old one, but my old one is a touring kind of scoota, uknow, backrest, boot, put ur legs out in front of u My new one is one of those sporty scootas, nowhere near as comfy, and at full throttle u gotta keep ur head down or u get blown all over the place.

88mph on 11" of rubber

88! Sod that

I would have been tempted to stick with the comfy one, driving in and out of London is bad enough anyway, may as well make it comfy

Ian, yeah, i did miss the comfy seat and backrest New one gets a little unstable after 60mph though, doesn't really like couontry lanes either. Suspension setup seems quite hard, so when u go into a corner under hard braking, it likes to jump aobut a bit.

Still £7 to fill it up and about 120-130 miles. Can't be bad

Tom, they are scootas, not exactly beasts.

Pretty much the same bike as my new (ish) one. I've got the VXR200. Silver n black. And a topbox which acutally looks quite good on there. Cost me £100 quid extra (painted).

Old one is the same as this, as seen in the back of your Corsa Haynes Manuals

New one looks like:

200cc 4 stroke, 60 in 8.5, 142kph top end and 21bhp @8500rpm :lol

Nahhh, its the work machine, its staying standard. Sitting ont eh motorway for 25min, even with ear defenders, gets on my tits. Its the wind noise that does my head in (hence the ear defenders, dont want tintinus).

Heard one of them Gilera motorbike scoota things with an exhaust one (first 4 stroke i've heard). Didn't sound to loud actually

End of teh day, spend ££ on making a 21bhp scoota faster, or ££ making my 150bhp corsa faster

My cars my toy

A unrestricted Caviga Mito 125cc (pretty easy to do) pushes out 34 bhp!

0-60mph in 7 secs

and before you say 'But mines 200cc and thats only 125 how can it go faster?'

it's because the 125 is a 2 stroke, so although the 4 stroke would be a lot smoother through the whole rev range, the 2 stroke can get larger power gains.

I would NEVER say that, im not 17-18

I was brought up on motor bikes, dad used to race them, and things are a LOT different.

Starters, gearboxm, mine only has 2 gears, Mito will ahve 5/6 gears.
Mito will rev up to about 12,000rpm +, mine will go to 8500rpm.

I could go on all day, but the bikes are completley different. I wouldn't stand a chance against any sports small bike (mito, RS125, NR125 etc...)

However, it does make me chuckle when the boyzzz on their 125cc Gilera Ruinners etc think they can do 90mph

hehe fair play mate.

My dad also raced bikes (before I was born / too young to remember) I just have the sight of all his injurys and his storys Almost puts me off getting a bike. The only reason I don't have one yet is coz of money.

As much as I'd like to spunk £1700 on a nice 125 and then spunk £451 on insurance - I think I'll spend it all on my corsa in smaller chunks... then one day (when I can afford it) get a bike.

Having said that, I could change my mind tommorrow use some money that I have saved up and go buy one

May I ask why you prefer scooters to bikes? Ever considered getting something like a 125 Mito or Aprilia RS?

Oh i dont trust me But i needed it for work to London every day. Trains and tubes to the city cost from my area about £2400 a year. Takes me an hour n a half to. Bike takes me 35min (used to be 45 on the old bike), can go when i want, and cost feck all to run. I can't stand pueblic transport Plus it worked out th bike only cost me £1600 per year

And i know what u mean about bike crashes and injuries
