SBD sell a TP134 throttle body kit for the x14xe engine which gives out the stated 134bhp. With head work, cams and decent ECU etc.. think you can get around 180bhp from the 1.4 16v lump.

Are there any tuning companies that do stuff for the good old C14SE? Apart from Courtenay and possibly Regal?

Theres a guy on mig who used an 8v bottom end and a 16v head etc, on TB, running 165bhp at the mo. Sent me his spec sheet, think i've deleted it, but it was kinda like Andy Hamiltons i.e quite long!

I thinkn the Tigra done by *Cough, wankers* regal, is running a T25 Turbo, 75bhp NOS, Inlet Manifold etc etc to run about 220-270bhp (although they claim 300bhp).

there was a red nova in eastbourne that had something very similar done to it was running 1.4 bottom and 1.6 top end on carbs was running something like 174bhp but was not a reliable 174 had to be set up once a month think he was running stage 3 head and a few other bits and bobs

As far as I know, the X14XE and X16XE share the pretty much same head - Matt Crowther dropped in my Schrick cams into the head of his 1.4 Ecotec engine without mods. I've also heard from the guy that maintains the SBD site that SBD have just developed a new tuning package for the 1.4, which is quite an advance on the 135bhp package they currently offer.

mantzel power box
flowed inlet manifold
flowed head
schrick 264 degree cams
vernier pulleys
pocketed pistons (1.4) come with uprated con rod bolts
exhuast manifold
omex ecu
1.6 gsi block
1.6 sport pistons

thats the spec of Matt's engine......

add some TB's and it should be awesome for a 1.4..
