Tempted to change the engine in my corsa 1.2 16v, either going for a simple swap to a 1.6 16v or all the way to a 2.0 turbo. What I want to know is if I need to strenthen anything with a 2.0 turbo, i.e reinforce the bulkhead.
Here's my shoping list to date...

Calibra with C20LET and F28 6speed box 100k Miles - £500
PVD fitting Kit for Corsa - £700
Larger Bore Powerflow zorst - £300
Fitting should be around £400/£500?

So all in that comes to £1.9k - not bad for 205bhp standard? Am I missing anything in the big picture? I already have cally brakes and spax coilovers with 15's so handling shouldnt be an issue?

Thats a good price for a LET & F28.

What about the conversion kit for the F28 to make it front wheel drive?

Is that not included in the PVD £700 kit? its about £150 i think? Thats what they go for near me. Im in the Midlands aka Vauxhall Heaven LOADS of scrappers here. Just got to try and find one. They are pretty rare though, one got sold a week ago with EVERTHING, engine, gearbox, ecu, loom, pump everything!Considering getting the engine reconditioned for an extra £400 on top?

i think an engine & gearbox will b 1000 - 1500

a valver would b 500

unless it doesnt include turbo or turbo smokes a lot.....

but yeah good quality engines go for what john said.

youll probably need turbo brakes, slightly bigger than valver brakes.

if your not fitting engine youve got n owt to worry about though. wiring and pipings aint fun on it. may be worth getting an evo intercooler if your spending loads of money as there way better than standard thing.

id doubt bulkhead would need strengthning as its gonna be pushed back ever so slightly to let air box fit. seam welding engine bay would prob be a must - as is a strut brace.

u'l need to get the engine bay seem welded and weather proofed to.

if the engine is £500 then there is something seriouly wrong with it

more than 500 for labour, its a harder job than a valver

F28 FWD conversion kit

and a hell of alot more money than 500 for engine and gear box

Plus, given the fact I've just taken mine off the car in a cloud of rust, I'd advise against putting a Powerflow on......mine was done with mild-steel, despite me asking for stainless (and it actually says "stainless steel" on the exhaust, but I've never seen stainless steel rust so badly).

Serious I was quoted between £500 and £600 for the complete engine, box etc and i'd be able to hear it running, The whole freeking cars go for about £800 in the auctions (LOL im a Bailif i know about auctions)! Wouldnt matter if it had been to the moon and back if I get the engine and box re-coned would it? Actually sounds a lot more expensive than I was thinking, lot of custom work needed? Would be a hell of a lot of fun though and im tempted even if it empties the wallet for some time... then theirs the issue of insurance!! 3yrs NCB but i doubt thats going to help get insured on a bleeding race-prep car! Prob get just a 1.6 16v on second thaughts, MUCH less expense.

if u can get a 2lt 16v turbo for 500 notes i will take 2 plez

labors about 750'ish

and theres not real need to seam weld the engine bay, its just craig trying to show off

yer its not a nova, it dont need seam welding

also u can rebuild the engine, but unless ur gonna re-bore it and fit over sized pistons then engines millage will show through in the way of drinking oil and alittle smoke out the back

Well the chap who quoted me works part time at AVS breakers Nottingham. You can ring them on 0115 9244600 and get a quote. I think you'll have a hard time finding one, let alone two beardy! Give them a ring all the same and see what price he quotes today...

If you want to spend that sort of money, id go for the 1.6 16v rebuild it and throughin a new inlet manifold, some kams and lighten everything. By doing this mate the car will go fast and it will haddle better as well for the lighter engine! A 2.0 litre 16v handles light a brick on wheels, in a corsa and a nova. Go for the lighter lump and have the fun on round abouts and country lanes!

what and still my just get 150bhp
he has a 1.2 so he has to get a 1.6 16v fitted so theres 1000 pound spent already, so thats leaves u 500 notes to make the 1.6 156bhp
2lt 16v will only cost ya 1500 all in all

if your gonna get a let for cheap as chips.. worth it as you got a chance to rebuild the fecker to push big hp through it properly...


turbos are the way to go to acheive higher hp at a minimum cost...

deffo get a valver or let dropped in... would rather spend shitloads on tuning these engines than 1.4/1.6....
