Cannibal Holocaust (uncut).
Was made scarier because of the rumours surrounding it that it was a snuff movie. It was filmed in blair witch handheld style and some of the effects are excellent but after looking into the story abit more i found that one of the people killed managed to make another film after it called Cannibal Ferox. Although the scene where they kill a turtle is real.

I rented that on DVD from Blockbuster once. I had nightmares for a week after watching that film...

That would have been the edited version as well. Only just become available over here after being banned for 20 odd years.

the uncut version isn't available for rent or purchase in uk.
Theres only about 10-12 minutes more but the turtle scene goes on longer and the final scene where they get killed is a bit longer as well as more graphic.
Theres also a scene reported that was apparently made but never filmed, just photographed. Its a scene where someone is tied to a log and lowered into piranha infested water. Just adds to the mystery of the film, don't think it was real but such are the effects of the film. Pic below is apparently all there is of that scene.
