Got an idea for my dash mounted screen I'm getting. Want to figure out a way to have it so you push a button and the screen slides out into view.
Can you buy hydrolics to do this. Are they different sizes. Do they come in kits so you can customise them. Where can I buy them from. Who sells them. Anyone know or anyone actually work with them?????
Thanks a bunch
Claire

Its not usually done thru hydraulics, its gone through cogs and belts!

Oh right. See, I know what I want, just dont know what I need, if you get ma drift.
But I want it to slide out from where the MFD display is, so its out of sight when not in use.
Si it would be a dash mounted button I'd press and the screen would appear
Hows it done???

It would be a right bastid to get done luv. Needs to be quite precise and you'd have to get tracks custom made n stuff, dont think it would be possible to be honest.
You could get a din sized unit and install it somewhere:

Cheers Austin. Anythings possible tho I'm wanting to utilise the space where the MFD is though so a screen like that wouldnt do for there.
Maybe I'll have to devise something thats on tracks, but you have to physically pull the screen up and push it down.
Would be nice to have it at the touch of a button
Hopefully someone else on here will know. I'll keep the post up a few days.

As Austin mentioned its going to be very very hard to create something like that. Like you say anything is possible but this idea is likely to cost loads of time and money
I was wanting to do the same thing with a motorized screen... press the button and it pops out of the mfd space. However my motorized screen decided to stop working so havin to build the screen into the dash.

MMmm. Thanks for the feedback. Could be clutching at straws with this one.
Gonna do some more checking into it tho. Trouble is, I dont know where to start looking
An engineering firm maybe. Or even a TV/Video repair shop. Ya never know.
See if anyone else has owt to say on the subject off here, but I'll keep you informed of my search

Said above but a video mech could be modified..
Any engineer (electronics/vid/tv) would probably be able to devise a system but will cost...
But by the look of your car claire it's not the money it's the individuality yeah..
Keep looking there must be a system out there..

I work from home
I work for the TSSA which is a transport and travel trade union. I run my own diary so I decide where I'm going each day. Head Office is in London, but only go there 4/5 times a year for meetings. Got another office in York that I pop into.
Do a HELL of a lot of travelling with the job tho cause I've got a big area to cover. I live near Wakefield (Leeds), my most northerly point is ALnwick (North of Morpeth/ Newcastle), most southerly is Stamford (not far from Peterboro) and I'd say the most easterly is Grimsby. Anywhere that falls in that area, I cover. Not in me corsa anymore tho.
Do you know owt about this system I'm after for the screen then???

Maybe ask in ICE shops to see if they have any faulty slide out TV units(din size and then if they let you have it you could take it apart and use the mechanism or chop the bottom off, if you get me
