Someone at work has just got a new number plate, they bought it from a market for £350

P14YER

Now i thought that was a real cheap price. then he told me that it was from a market. He filled in loads of forms and he said it was a proper stall.

Someone else asked him if he had all the paper work, he hasn't got any, the person who asked said he needs something to do with "cherised documents or something"

Anyway the guy who bought the plate has been driving round with it on his car and is a bit wooried that he's been ripped off now. Also he got flashed by a Speed camera this morning wiv his new plate on.

How will he know if the plate is legal ?
If it isn't will the police be able to trace his car for the speeding offence ?
Do you think he's been ripped off ?

He got a telephone for the person who sold him it but when he rings it no-one answers.

I'm not sure what's going on but £350 for P14YER...............raised my suspicions in the first place..........comments welcome.

I think hes been blagged mate there would be no way that number plate would be sold for £350....it would go for tens of thousands at auction...

he should have received loads of documents from the DVLA about the plate being registered to him...thats what I got when I bought mine direct from DVLA...

I cant beleive he could be so stupid to buy a plate from a market stall...!!!

Definatly been screwed mate.

That plate as said wouldnt sell anywhere near that low, you are talking about 10 times more.

Regarding the speeding, they will catch him, even with different plates, they will note all things that stand out on the car and then if they see it around he is fucked, 1) for speeding and 2) for fake plates, might get let off on the fake plates though because he was stupid.

The rules are that you can't use your new plate until you receive a tax disc showing the registration. I can only assume that he's running round with a tax disc that doesn't match his registration which is another offence and further evidence of his stupidity!!

thanx 4 the response, just been talking to someone who knows he better than me and they said he's well dodgy and has probarly just put the plates on and made them himself, what an idiot.

He's not really my mate, just someone from work and I heard him talkin bout it and i thought i'd find out. Cheers anyway for replies.

p.s. what happens if u get caught wiv false plates??
