Whats does a turbo kit consist of for a 1.6 gsi ecotec engine? just wonderin so i can do the conversion myself, cheers if ne1 can help.

not worth it... u wont be able to do it for years so don't bother worrying about it now and prices and equipment will change in time to come

you are 16, your never going to get insured on a turbo conversion until your atleast 19/20, and even then it'll still be sky high!

cant do it yaself really, coz you need to map the ecu properly......and wouldnt bother with a turbo conv on a 1.6 not much bhp for your £££

not really cost effective, or reliable option
if your after power, you'd be better off with a 2ltr under the bonnet. Plus it would be easier to insure an 2ltr XE lump than it would a turbo conversion.

money int an issue guys, am doin all work myself, have done most work on my car myself so far. insurance is nothing cos im on trade policy.

even at 17 you will not get a turbo insurance.. traders policy isnt (ok we will insure you on anything at any age) sadly

no, but we see about 5 young people a month who come on here asking how much turbo conversions or 2ltrs are, so we are just trying to bring you back to reality!

new inlet and exhaust manifolds, turbo, headwork, fitting of an intercooler, and the routing if turbo pipes etc, full remap/replacment/reprogrammed ecu....not easy for diy

He's right about that, ive tried myself to set up a trade policy for my company, and say that you want two 18 yr olds on high perf. cars, etc. and they'll say no straight away!
And most have restrictions that you can only drive them for work purposes, e.e mainly 9-5, etc!

Go for it mate, the only reason everyones saying no is because their be jealous when u fly passed them.. My mate did it on his GSi. The manifolds, turbo, pipes ecu, intercooler etc all fit on to your car from the let engine. You just have to make the room. Only thing u cant do set the engine up, let the garage do that. Your looking at 1500k tops.

plus different cam, strengthened bottom end, a turbo fuel pump, the list is endless, just save yourself hassle and get a 2.0 turbo from a cally.
