a 137bhp pug 206 GTi 2.0 does 0-60 in 8.4 seconds so there about the same as that and there supposidly quite fast, 180bhp 206 gti does it in 7.1secs a 04 style corsa sri 1.8 is now only £11600 which is the same price as what the 1.4 SRi used to cost

0-60 is about 2 secs quicker than the 1.4 SRi. Personally I don't thing they are worth the extra insurance and running costs. Buy the 1.4 SRi and get the full irmscher styling kit at the same time. It will cost you the same as a 1.8 SRi. If you haggle that is.

120bhp pug 106 gti does 0-60 in 7.4 secs (tested by EVO)
a 106 gti will embarass a 1.8 sri

True, However that is the Evo test 0-60 which quite often tends to be faster than manufacterers figs. Which is what the 1.8 Sri is 8.0 secs. If you look at the claimed times the 1.6 gti (8.7 secs) then the corsa is faster.
Evo have never done a grp test in which they measured the SRi's sprint times so its hardly fair.
106 would own it thru the twistys tho.

evo did group test the 1.8 sri and got 8.2 0-60 and 24 secs 0-100
pug's figures for the gti were tested with half payload (half tank of fuel, luggage, and 1 passenger) in order to get a lower 0-60 time for lower insurance rating

the 106 gti is a closer rival to the corsa 1.8 sri than the 206 gti which is why i mentioned it

you might say its only 125 bhp, compared too the clio 16v which supposedly has 137 but in reality very few clio 16v actually make more than 120 bhp.

there's plenty of std clio's on cliosport making over 137bhp in std form
all depends on how well the engine has bn looked after, i.e. regular servicing, oil changes, de-cokeing etc

lol 1.8 corsa c is terribly slow! my mate test drove both the 1.4 and 1.8 corsa c's, and he said the 1.4 felt quicker, and the 1.8 felt really sluggish

actually when they made the engines they didnt reset the tools very often so obviously once they had reset them the next couple of engines would ahve benn fully blueprinted, the last ones would have been shite. i was speaking too the guy who owns torsion tuning (they specialise in clio tuning) and hes was saying this also, hes driven some which are a bag off balls and the occasional one which is quick. he also said they hardly ever find clios which actually make 137 bhp. other interesting fact he said was that the people who recon a filer decat zoorst and chip who recon on gettin 150 bhp are jokers. you can spend 3k on those engines and still not get 160 bhp.
