>Replaced three broken central locking solenoids, bridging the rear right doors feed to the rear left (cos of wiring problem)

>Correctly fitted Head Unit (fitted new RCA adaptors behind it)

>Washed Car

>Waxed & polished alloys (see below)

>Took car Vaux for new radiator fan switch seal thingy to stop the leak it had

>Hoovered car all over

>Fixed broken Amp fuse (Dad screwed internal panel thru the power wire!)

>Got V6 brakes, painted calipers ready for fitting (see below)

Here's some pics:

The Brake Calipers awaiting their second coat:

I never realised just how big the calipers were, but especially how damn heavy they are! they weigh an absolute tonne and are huge!

Will my 1.2 16v be able to move??!!

Brake Hoes from PVD ordered last Tuesday on £7 48hr delivery and being told they were in stock still havent turned up so can't fit brakes just yet.

Not sure what to do next - back box i think Colour coding maybe Its nice to have the choice and finally some income to do it with!

Comments welcome. first time car had been cleaned since Easter, first time all 4 doors had been properly done up since May.

Amp sounds amazing, central locking has a lovely dull thud to it instead of a light clap (6 locks all at once!)

Just need my alarm sorting now - may upgrade my toad A101CL to a Toad A606.

All this kept me out of trouble all weekend

Comments welcome.

Corsa Nut: Im not 'slamming it' cos i don't want it to rub or look 'boy racer lowered'

Steve: there's three reasons really - firstly improved braking - especially if i go for my planned 1.6 16v project later on down the line.

secondly, my existing brakes are warped slightly so will fail next MOT ive been told by Vaux, so for £60 more i went for V6 over standard disk replacement (£200 instead of £140)

Thirdly, they look huge behind my new alloys instead of the little ones ive got now which look kind of lost!

Vibro: I thought about GSI ones, then thought for a few more quid i could have big ones. got uprates hoses to come so hopefully won't be too spongy.

Kit - pads, calipers (official GM) and disks are from V-Tuning. came withing two days of sending the cheque off. shame PVD couldn't deliver before the weekend too though

a standard brake setup is more than adequate for a 1.2 16v, but if there is a planned conversion going ahead then it makes sense

no if your car has an ABS setup then you cannot stop any quicker than the ABS allows this is the quickest you will be able to stop, larger brakes will make no difference

Steve, this is incorrect. Even without assistance a larger disc allows greater pad contact and more importantly greater dissipation of heat. This is only true of course up to a point as assuming your braking system could work effectively within the boundaries of working temparature your next hurdle is the grip available from the tyres. As these are already wider than factory tolerance I'd argue that there are further margins to be exploited elsewhere in the system.

Master cylinder change is a big job, ive got goodridge hoses on the way to help the higher dot brake fluid do a good job on the V6's. Its not a perfect setup, but should be ok.

Thanks all for the comments!

Enough about brakes! isn't my car shiny!!

Thats what I'm going for Sooty. Im now thinking of not changing the front or rear bumpers at all! Exhaust, then colour code whats there and then I'll leave it I think.

Im not pretending its something it's not and don't want a big kit or a madly modified car. I think a 1.6 16v will be nice to make it everything i want it to be. done the interior, the ice, the wheels, nealry the brakes, now just cosmetics then performance i think.

I hope I still keep interest for the performance as I do like the Astra

(1.6 not a 2.0 as I've air con and want to keep it).

I was thinking Remus twin oval BB.

Is the FK grille the V grille without the V? I like those

Single wiper appeals - MOT/legal thoughts have to be considered though.

Oh - just remembered - I want Steiny Mirrors - Electric - so if anyone can get them cheap
