i know you cant have dump valve's fitted to a non-turbo'd car, but arnt there "fake" ones you can get?? Someone was telling me about them a few weeks ago and all they do is give you the "Tishhh" sound when ya change gear?

yeah thats to open it but you still need the boost pressure to make the noise.

This is 100% correct.
The vacuum from the servo pulls the diaphram inside the dump valve up, but u need a build up of pressure to be let out etc. eg: make the tissch noise.

louder than the blokes 350bhp WRX scooby who did the tune up for me, and it was exactly the same type.

Atmospheric dump valves are shit and reduce performance of the car. putting them on a TD is stupid. £200+ for something that make a noise.
recirculation valves are the way forward.

in your opinion. And who told u they are that price?!? My dump valve has helped Lag no end, thanks very much
Aint the ones they fit to R5's + RST's atmospheric? If so, i thought these improved performance by reducing Lag.

no dumping the air in the boost system to the atmos means the turbo has to fill this up again this makes for more lag.

i read that if this air is left within the turbo system, it tends to slow the turbo right down, and in some cases cause it to spin backwards, causing bigger headaches.......?
Although re-circ valves are meana be pretty nifty. i take it these whack the air right back in such a way, so as to create higher boost?

recircs dump back into the inlet system infront of the turbo. dumping the air prevents turbo stall which can damage the vanes

matty, i agree with vibs on this, they will dump all the boost pressure hence the turbo will lag more as it has too spool up again on a td, its not the same as petrols cars. dr derv tried telling me the same as u said so i put him right.

fair douz Kris.....but i used to find that when i booted the TD, and then went up into next gear, i'd have a delay.
i've found, that since the d/v was fitted i've got continuous power with minimal lag.
It makes sense, got i would have thought that the turbo would be heavily slowed by the air pressure build up within the system on the DT.
