cos ive put a lot of time/effort/money into my car i do not want/need stupid power, i cant rag it down B roads too much due to its kit, but i just want a nicer bigger engine in it to finish it off and sell it
i dont want to spend megga money, as im saving for a 3rd car which i will strip and make for fun/speed
my 2nd car i just use for work, so both other 2 will not be very practical
i was going for a 2.0, but all my mates keep snapping shafts/mounts/gearboxes etc and i cant b arsed with all the hassel
i was thinking about the 1.6 sport engines, cheap, lots about with low mileage, can use a lot of normal corsa parts, and quite light/tunable
so what would u do? a 1.6 (cheap, light, relaible) or the 2.0xe (faster, gonna ruin my car, more expensive)
bare in mind im 20 with 3 years ncb

Go for a 1.6 16v then mate. If you can't afford to spend lots of £ every time your 12 year old+ engine breaks something, then the 1.6 is the way forward.
Can pick one up for about £200-£300 I reckon.

cheers sam, your one of the only people on here i actually listen too
it makes sense to me, a 1.6 16v is ample quick for me, i can insure it legit, and i could pick up like a 5 year old engine with very little miles for not much money

Pop a standard 1.6 in for the time being - then you've always got the option of various tuning packages if you feel the need fpr more power later

Get the 1.6, wouldn't even consider a 2.0 16v without proper insurance

cheers andy fella, i think im sold on this idea
what do i need to change a 1.2 8v to a 1.6 16v relaibly?
16v engine mounts (standard corsa?)
1.6 16v drive shafts (off a standard corsa?)
engine and box obviously
fuel pump off a 1.6
i DONT need....
power cap etc off the 2.0

i would have to swap it over into my dads name and be a named driver
when i go back to uni and earn 300 quid a month i dont think ill be able to afford it somehow!!
the thing that scares me is that my mate has just bought a 2.0 corsa, had it 4 weeks, and he is a good driver, but he planted it into a lampost in the town centre and basicly bent the front of the car inwards, new bonnet, manifold, numper n wings, lights, wheels etc etc and arms
if i did that to my corsa i would cry, the front end is insured for 2k alone for the work from a bodyshop!

Marv - not sure what's involved with a transplant. There'll be mounts, wiring loom, gearbox issues, but I don't think it'll be that complicated. Someone recently did the same transplant off here a few weeks ago - do a search

Try and get the C16XE if you can, although having said that, they are rare as rocking horse shit!

C16xe is most tunable (responded better to matzel bos etc) there is also the x16e and sumthin with an 'L' in the later is the astra engine and the c16xe is generally regarded as the best.
