I haven't declared any of the mods on my car but none of them are performance enhancing. Gotta standard exhaust, no cone filter, just a few cosmetic changes.

Just let them do what they want, its there choice. If they want to have void insurance then let them. They will pay the consequences at the end of it and so will the person they crash into. No its not fair, but arguing with them is just a waste of time as they don't care as we can clearly see.

Can't say that I have, no.
All I have done is colour coded all the exterior, put a spoiler on and changed the alloys to genuine Vauxhall ones. I'm sure my insurance company is really gonna care about that.

Good god, you people can talk some pish at time.
Bear in mind that I am a Police Officer and have first hand experience of this.
You have to remember that an Insurance company is a business so they will do anything they can to not pay out in an accident. I am aware of intinces where some people have been refused a pay out becaue they have a non-standard font on their number plate.
The thing to remember here is that the law requires you to have inurance in repect of third party risks (i.e to pay for the damage to the other car) This is why you will see on your policy it states "Nothing in this document effects your right as a third party". So technically in the event of a claim you will be fine legally.
However if you are stopped by the police and they give your insurance company a quick call and ask if this mod or that mod effects yous policy and they state that it invalidates your policy then you may be in trouble as in effect your company has cancelled the policy at the roadside!!
Again if you have an accident your insurance company wont pay out, if they can find the slightest mod, performace or cosmetic as they want to save cash and make profit!!

exactly what we have been trying to say. it doesnt matter if they dont care, you still have to tell them in the first place.
