Shes not too bad
Not much happened recently.
Got lifters and camshaft back in place, cleaned bearing cap covers up a bit and loosely placed them all back on

Then following the Haynes pattern i set about tourqing them up to 8Nm. Although the first one didnt go to plan for some reason

Mum managed to get the thread out with a screwdriver and a ratchet extension bar but haynes didnt say use new bolts or anything
Im now trying to source some new bearing cap cover bolts, might have to give AutoVaux a ring tomorrow.

Did you do them all till they nipped first then torque? Or just torqued one then moved onto the next?

They very offen snap, 8nm is nothing and its very easy for them to break.
Just go very very easy on them.

I put them all in just a little so as they held themselves in place, then went by the sequence outlined in the haynes manual.
The one that snapped was the first one i did up - yes i just put that one straight in attempting 8Nm i didnt do it a bit and then do another a little bit then the first fully tight.
Ill get some more and try again

Phoned vauxhall and asked about the rings for fuel injectors as i decided i might aswell replace these also whilst im this far given how little they cost. Plus somewhere back in my thread i was asking about the smell of fuel in the car but couldnt figure it out so ill give them a bit of attention. Rings come in at £2.22 each from Vauxhall so not too bad - chap said i need 8.
Also asked about the cam bearing cap bolts - only thing the guy said was listed was a 'screw M6 x 40mm' but measured and this seems about right. 47p each from Vauxhall, sold individually - but im thinking im going to replace the lot instead of just one.

Hmm powder coaters never called Ill have to give them a call tomorrow.
Couple pics from recently -
Car was ditched during some rain storm - must have been all the volcanic ash
So out came my Volcanic Ash Removal Kit

All cleeeean

Valves - 8 to go (currently 3 to go at time of writing)

Dirty valves

Clean valves

Sunny day so thought id do some outside work -

Old ones were shagged

Rinsed it out and sanded it down so as they could get a new lick of paint -

Few random tools to help get collars into the drum

Gf did the finishing touches -

Job done all fixed

Thanks
There is a thread in tutorials for the wiper stalk. it plugs in the same but just needs two wires splicing into the variable speed wiper stalk, nothing too complex.
Used some fine wet and dry to clean them up.

just been to the powder coaters - had to wait near on 3 weeks for it, but given they only did it on the side for me and the car wasnt going anywhere fast im not too bothered.
Plus they only charged £15 quid to sort it out for me and my god i love it

Mock up with oil cap

Going to look mint with the lexmaul
also popped Vaux and picked up my bolts and rings
