Fucking unlucky you are mate, Filter looks good though. They look so much better against the 16v engine.

I know, bloody thing, not got spring compressors or a air gun, so im going to have to pop the strut off and put it down to the garage for it to be changed.

Got all the parts I needed yesterday, tackled it today.
New stub axle I was sent is fucked, threads are fucked on it
Cant do anything else untill I get another stub axle, cant get them new, so gota track down someone with a fucked beam to get a replacement, if not its new beam time, jsut after I sold a excellent condition beam off the XSI

Finally got a stub axle today, got a whole rear beam from a VTR, bearings are shot in it though, may rebuild it and sell.
Anyways, everything is ready for the mot retest now apart from the exhaust, still bloody blowing, need some exhaust assembly paste.
Once its MOT'd (Tomorrow hopefully) then is replace gearbox seals, 1x top mount, fit lower strut brace and my powerflex lower mount.

Yup, got one brand new for £30 delivered, not too bad. Was meant to be getting it MOT'd today, but the unreliable bastards in the garage "forgot" about doing it, cant get it done til tomorrow morning now.

Mmm, about 12 days ago , last day of the retest period is tomorrow. Waiting for parts has been a killer.

Finally MOT'd, after the 3rd attempt
Had to give it a hell of a beating to get it hot enough to pass the emissions, but all is good now.
That just leaves me to do:
Replace top mount
Fit lower brace
Fix gear linkage arm
Adjust exhaust, and refit the decat
Need me some 15"s too, on the hunt for speedline comp2s.

Top mount was replaced a few days ago.
Decided I really dont like this car, no where near as fun as the XSI.
New plan, sell the fucker and buy a 306 HDI.
And as a side project
AX 16v

That the plan, the GTI just isnt as fun as the XSI was, and its no use for actully going anywhere without the worry of it breaking down
AX will be destined for the track

Good stuff, any idea on the weight comparison between that and an XSI?

640kg
Imagine it would make less than 600kg after strippage, indluding the extra weight of the 16v.
