have been told you need projector style headlights such as angel eyes to use hid kits legally but only if you have washer jets on them

I got the through my MOT no problems, Although you are correct they should only be used with projector lamps and have washer jets.
If they fail the MOT just stick your old bulbs in and remove them once it's passed the MOT.

I can't be arsed finding the MOT guidelines but it is in there.
You look at every car that has factory fitted HIDs and they will be projector headlights and have washer jets.
There is no law being broken by retro fitting HIDs but they must have washer jets fitted and be projector lamps.

My car comes with HIDs as standard and does not have washer jets on the headlights, never had a problem with mots, or anyone i know that has the kits. just make sure your lights are clean for the mot and aligned correctly and they are fine.
Cheers MJ

All u2u's replied to
Terry is right, for these to be legal they have to be in projector headlights, have washer jets and be auto adjusting.
Passing the mot is a different matter. Some places will pass them as long as the beam is adjusted correctly and others won't. It just seems to be pot luck. The easiest thing to do is swap them over for the one day a year to be on the safe side.
