Head is now stripped down, and gave it a quick clean before I wrap it up:

Also transfered the pipework from the old turbo to the new one, cleaned them up with some petrol first.

Old vs New:

New turbo almost ready to fit:

Cheers buddy

Lots done today, cleaned the the block and engine bay, painted up the subframe, fitted my powerflex lower mount bush, painted the front callipers, fitted the new radiator mounts, and new oil filter and sump plug. Also cleaned all the bits that I have taken off so far, they were all covered in oil from the rocker leaking.

Forgot to take pics, will take some later!

Clean bay:

View from the front, can see one of the rad mounts and the powerflex mount in there somewhere

Not much I can do now until the head comes back, currently replacing all the hose clips with jubilee clips instead.

Phillip received the head today, so not too long till I have it back

Also decided to go for a X20XEV inlet cam, my brother has a few ecotec engines lying about, so will get one out of them. Plenty of good reviews on the internet about them anyways.

Head is en-route to me now, hopefully have it Friday

Bit of work today, cleaned up the mating surfaces for the head:

Pistons are still pretty manky, joys of leaking valve stem seals. Its well baked on though

Also trimmed the rear splitter for the backbox:

Before:

After:

Splitter is a bit bent with bent folded over for the past 3 months , im hoping it will bend straight again.

Also fitted the new water pump and tensioners etc, not much more I can do until the head is back.

De-cat will be done eventually, but its hellish loud as it is

Luckily the wiring isn't bad at all, all fits in the casing above the injectors

Cant wait

Biggest problem for me so far is I dont have a torque wrench the goes from 8nm - 25nm, mine only goes as low as 30 and every bolt I need to do is either 8, 20 or 25

Shall track one down today though

Meant to be a few bhp, a lot more pull after 4k. Im just trying it out seeing as I have the cams out anyway, and im getting the cam for free.

Doesnt look like im going to get 10 in on the group buy, might just use the 10% discount I can get anyway and buy it. Only another 5% off in the group buy.

It finally arrived today

Been working on it since the past 5 hours, got a lot done but still a few things to do. Havent got my inlet cam yet which is a pain in the arse, might have to put the standard one in if I cant get it tomorrow.

Head built up, new inlet and exhaust studs:

Shiny skimmed head:

After that I was flat out and forgot to take any pictures, but here how far I got tonight:

Turbo isnt on properly yet as I need a 3/8>1/2" drive converter for my torque wrench for the bolts.

Still have quite a bit to do as shown by the pics, hopefully have it running again by Friday
