Personally I think the WR racer forum is 100x what CS is design and layout wise.. In the grand scheme of things the CS forum is wierd!

the idea if merging was going ahead would be to think up a new, neutral name to cater for everyone

like pistonheads

at the end of the day ian needs to listen to people opinions that they have posted on here instead of saying this is how its going to be as i think he will loose alot of member doing it the way he is trying to, wr will never be cs at the end of the day, just my opinion

It would be shame to lose the corsasport name, been going along time now and got good memories of being on the stands.

Weekend Racer seems a bit to track orientated to me though, just want a site for general car chat and banter

True but the man has a point, alot of work does go into both! Some don't see the time and money put in by all staff to keep the shows as great as they are!

And on the flip side a bigger uptake on one site = more money for better shows/events/trackdays..

+1 tbh. I can see why you want to revert CS back to it's roots, but ironically if you want to keep CS as a Corsa forum and WR as a track day forum I'm pretty confident you will lose a fair amount of members (inc. myself) who actually pay premium membership to help fund the forum!

I think there just needs to be some input on there and maybe some effort for people to post and get involved

I notice its only the people who either dont own corsas anymore or those that dont show with CS at shows like PVS that want this rebrand to just general cars.

Bit selfish if you ask me, this is forum for corsas and the reason i joined up was because i had one and wanted to join a community who shares a similar interest and show my car alongside others. I dont want to be on a stand alongside a puma, an evo and a metro. Id join a different forum if i wanted to do that.

Ive read through most of this thread, and personally, i think ian is giving up too easy.

Corsasport is massive compared to PNG, and there are always new people joining corsasport.

Its this kind of thread that makes mt think what is the point in me keep coming onto corsasport.

WR just needs to be a link at the top of here, it shouldnt effect corsasport at all imo. If it cant grow, sack it off, it shouldnt need corsasport to make it grow.

If you remove any of the threads that are posted on here, what is the point, it was more than just trackday users that want to read track threads. I have never been on track and i prob wont for a couple of years, but i do like to read the trackday threads and stuff. I wouldnt be going on WR to read them.

But is it massive because of the sheer number of members who stick around even when they dont currently own a Corsa?

I only signed up for a giggle when I built the 1.8 and I only had that a few months but I stuck around for the shows and the banter because there are very few clubs around at the moment with such a good mix of members.. Going to a show with Corsa sport is actually fun!

I agree in a way with what you are saying AW but i can also understand what Ian is saying as i was there at Trax and the turnout of Corsas on the stand was, honestly, pathetic compared to others. Especially considering the amount of effort the staff put in to making this day as enjoyable as possible for the members. Even if they did forget the roof

Where the fuck was everyone?!

How about just making an off topic on WR?

It seems now, for a club/forum to thrive they need to do something different, pistonheads has the news and classifieds, etc

And look at how active the forum is though! There is still a turn out at the shows but very few Corsas so there is clearly a problem attracting Corsa owners to a Corsa based forum but surely on the other hand this site would bloom if it was a generic car site mainly because its a fun club to be part of with or without the corsa element!
