depends if you can drive well or not, can't say i've experienced oversteer or understeer in my car.

But i haven't really got to try it out on track.

On the roads, white lines, potholes, road cambers, animals and oncoming traffic usually come into play before i'm "understeering" off the other side of the road

base your car choice on the real world and what its actually like.

i always say this about the VXR8, looks great fun on top gear and computer games.

in the real world if could probably be any wheel drive and not really matter.

How often do you get to have the fun you imagine you will have with a certain car.

Of course it does Jim, it alters the feel of the car whether your doing 10mph or 100mph. The way it changes direction, steering feedback absence of torque steer etc.

There are some great FWD cars out there including some ive owned and miss, but given the choice with two financially equal cars, the one with the better drivetrain will be my preffered choice.

FWD only exists to save money, it wasn't designed as a "better" option.

i know, but i think when most people think about getting a rwd all they have in their head is scenes from fast and furious.

reality is usually oversteering into a crash barrier

just "most" people, not elites like us

Only reason I want a RWD car is to drift away from a set of lights.

That maybe true Jim, a lot of people ask if i get the back out etc, which is harder than you think because its not a shit car. I.e it grips insanely well and thus corners at high speed. of course if i had a racetrack to prance about on it might be easier. That and let it rain and then it will happily go sideways (Disclaimer to Big Eck c/o the facts department. It will drive fine in the rain unless you hoon it, this does not mean its "undriveble as your mates dog who's sister twice removed had one for a test drive once said" If you attempted the same in a FWD car it would understeer into a hedge)

But you are right of course, it simply boils down to your sentance. If YOU LIKE the car, then buy it. Simples. Who cares what some bloke who drives a stripped out Puma and Swift think.

Same, i would come 3rd in that race, you would be 4th as i reckon we would go faster than 90mph and then you would start falling behind, maybe the 325i might do ya!!!!

depends on your gearshifts imo

So far everyone who has owned a TT / Haldex equipped car has said its basically a good system (excluding Whitter but everyone is entitled to there opinion)

Never had an issue with mine and been running an S3 for four years, gives 4wd grip when required which is all I need. Its not full quattro but then again I drive on the motorway to work not cross country stages.

Best to drive one and see what you think, 4wd launches in the wet from the lights are fun
