There is cabling and cabling though.
Might be the odd patch cable to a computer slightly further away or it might be dressing an entire cab and routing out collision domains in an entire building.
Very difficult to compare.
My personal feeling would be that private pays more, but the jobs are typically more difficult because there are more people worried about what you do.
My experience in the public sector is that you can doss about and bollocks things up and so long as things go relatively well you're fine. Some people complain about things being slow but because they're all on the go slow anyway they don't make too much noise.
If actual income depended on it, it would be a different story.

On the issue of public sector pay, TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said: "The chancellor's refusal to back a Robin Hood tax, and make nurses pay instead, speaks volumes about his values.
"Public servants are no longer being asked to make a temporary sacrifice, but accept a permanent deep cut in their living standards that will add up to over 16% by 2015 when you include pay and pension contributions."

So
A 1% capped pay rise over the next two years for the public sector workers
5.2% for the dole scroungers.
Luverly.

Dole dossers will be striking next. That's inline with inflation, won't somebody please think of their poor families watching repeats of only fools and horses on standard flat screens and not 3D ones.

I dislike strikes. It has an effect on the every day person, not the person with the purse strings.
Blackmail in effect.
Im in a job where if we went on strike, it wouldnt really matter. So how do we go about getting better deals etc? Through the unions.
You've got a job, it pays the bills, be happy at that tbh.

Trash the NHS. Private medical works just fine over here and in many other countries.
And no, iy doesn't mean people who can't afford insurance won't be cared for, they'll receive the most basic care available, whilst everyone else can rest assured that they will receive a quality of care congruent with the money paid in each month.

Scrapping the NHS would be a mistake. Giving a vital service to a private company who just want to make money

yes i know... but for instance if you lost your job you WOULD need enough to get by on. the problem isnt with benifits going up its with how relaxed they are letting people who dont deserve them have them

Or if it was done properly, dissolving a failing service and handing it over to private trusts who would have to compete with each other and consequently improve what they offer to the public.
Instead of NI, you'd pay a slice of pre-tax wages to a private medical insurer, then you could decide where to go for your care and therefore where your money was being spent.
