I know nothing about these, but is there an option to do the mega distances like they do with the planes?
If not. What's stopping it

Nothing if you hook up an fm fpv to it. Only thing stopping you is your eyesight range

He's already got his own UAV
Though I have a feeling going out of line of sight gets you into breaching CAA regulations.

Just need one of these and you won't need an FPV surely.

What vTX frequncy are you using?
You should try using 1.3ghz.. Hardly any contention in the UK and the range will piss on the 2.4ghz link.

Yeah LOS with patch antenna and a pair of satelites.. IF you're lucky
1.3ghz @ 800mW is good for MILES on a bi-quad

Now developed a gps module that plugs into my kit

fits into drone like so

and produces logs on the onboard usb stick containing lots of flight data
I have created a log converter on my website that converts the file into a KMZ and allows you to view your flight in 3d in Google Earth

Iv also included a live interactive display on the website of your uploaded log using the google earth API
you can view a live demonstration of this following this link
