heres a £10k horror story on a 964 rebuild
http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=75669

the car in question is on page one of my project thread

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=614188

it was for sale at the same time i was looking, was up for £15k and had already had a top end rebuild.
i opted for mine as it was a bargain.

Toms just stated parts are easily available... As opposed to buying a mustang which i can get parts for without importing...

You said that john-d wouldnt be able to service or run an m3, he did it and paid for the subframe to be repaired too.

Just because you cant afford to run a specific car doesnt mean i cant either... You have differant circumstances than me

I can afford to run any car you are looking at, apart from your Ferrari.

I didn't say anything about affording it. The point from the quoted post was you'll buy a cheap one then spend a fortune fixing it, not that you couldn't afford to fix it.

Not sure why a corrado rebuild was being compared to a 996 one. I nearly bought a c2 a year or so ago but the 6k rebuilds meant that it would if been a stupid choice of car without having that sort of money set aside.

However if you do then a 996 would be a great car, still wouldn't chose the convertible though

Top end around £2-£3k. Most people do rebuilds when they don't need it just as a matter of course.
They do have their leaks but these are usually gaskets or oil pipes. Mines going in for a service soon and I'm anticipating around £1k as it needs some gaskets changing and valve clearances checked aswell.
Usual service is around £450

Fast, rare, running costs no problem? Not scared of engine trouble? Short or amputee passengers?

There are rear seats but as said you need to have no legs to sit in them.
