That's got to be bullshit, why would we spunk £12M on possibly the worst winger I've seen in the Premier League when it's one of our strongest departments.
Had heard we were back in for Per Ciljan Skjelbred with a figure of about £6M being rumoured.

Roy Keane is mental if he thinks Anton Ferdinand is worth £8million.

Just had to look up who he was
Apparently Blackburn are after him as well but he's come out saying he's a Newcastle fan

Think its a case of he knows the money is there so hes like a kid in a sweet shop. They spent £50m last season and Niall Quinn said the same was available this season. A team like Sunderland needs to bring in above average players to get enough succuss as a team to tempt the good players.

Niall Quinn slagged us of for spending too much £££ on average players, then does exactley the same the following season

£24,000,000 for a 25 year old guy with 1 Portugal cap, which coincidentally came last week against the Faroe Islands.

Pavlyuchenko on verge of joining tottenham could spark all sorts of stuff including berba to man utd. We have been heavily linked with riera but for closer to £8m (that's more like it) hopefully that will go through now. I want rid of pennant and a couple of others too though!

Pavlyuchenko said he was happy to stay the other week, but he'd be the much better signing than that arshavin who looks vastly overrated
Would make berb to united happen which is good, but we'll be paying too much for him. would give us another option in attack though

I agree he is a forward like Rooney and Tevez are, and ideally we need a striker (benzema) but his ability to hold the ball up and his skill will mean he can play up as a striker if needed too imo. Plus he scores 15+ a season, and that was the case last season when he didnt want to be at spurs

I don't think Berbatov is like Rooney or Tevez. He certainly doesn't play as deep as Rooney, and he'll get you more goals then both Tevez and Rooney.

Apparently Russia is up in arms over it as Zenit have bought him with Gazprom's bankrolled millions, made up of oil funds and tax.
Basically the Russian tax payers have bought an average midfielder for £24 million quid
