took the car to my mates garage today to sort all the camber caster etc out , first off put the tre under the hub as been advised by a few people to do so

prob took about 3/4 hours in the end as we keped taking if for a drive to see how it drives, ended up setting it to everything straight and paraller to get as much grip as possable , drives great now

this is the angle the tre sits at now

and how the wheels sit in the arch

then stuck it on the corner weight scales to see what it weights, (it had 14 gallons of fuel in it )

so by taking the fuel out and working that it has 2 liters of petrol in the tank it weighs 931kg without driver ,so that makes it 612.8bhp/ton, if i have my maths right, not to shabby that

and a few pics of the garage car , its around 650bhp n/a and weighs 920kg

Didnt realise the boys next door had the corner weights. Handy to know.

Have you measured the bump steer with having the TREs mounted below?

How much Caster is it now running Ben? The wheel definately looks further forward in the arch, does it make the steering feel alot more responsive?

Thats the ackerman principle and to do with steering angles.

Bump steer is as your driving the suspension will compress and rebound and as you do so the tracking may go from being 0deg at normal ride height to +/- a few degrees/minutes through this movement.

This is generally adjusted by moving the point where the track rod joins the steering knuckle up or down.

If the roll centre is adjusted by moving the lower ball joint closer or further away to the centre of the hub the track rod end usually needs doing the same amount to keep the bump steer as it should be.

The bumpsteer on mine was quite bad, 140mph down New Cut Lane over one of the bumps sent me left towards the ditch quite dramatically. Certainly keeps me on my toes but prefer it to be better

yer think it needs a bit of a play with as when you go down the road and let go of the wheel it moves from left to right from the bumps quite a bit

Move the TRE back to the top and see how it feels. I would imagine it will be better

i thought the straighter the tre the less it would bump steer? as putting it on top would make the angle worse

It don't really work like that unfortunately. The only time you should be moving it below the hub is if you have moved the lower ball joint pivot point below the hub massively. Moving the TRE a few mm can make a difference, never mind the 20-30mm you probably have done from standard.

took it out the other day and was getting a noise from front end, narrowed it down to brakes so put it on the brake rollers at my mates garage and it comfermed it, so took disks of and had the put on a lathe to make sure they were straight and they wernt so i must of cooked them when trying to set the bias back up

stuck them back on and stuck a number plate on to keep plod happy

went for a drive and all is sorted once again, could only do a few miles as 33deg outside and its like a sauner inside the car
