If you watch the on board you can see the small rotations towards the end as he cadence brakes.

Uh ho. The wheelchair is being prepared. He'll soon be with his mate Mark and they can reminisce about the days the were once "ok drivers" in an elite racing series

He's the biggest non-event of the last 3 years IMO.

Poor old Caterham missing the next 2 gp's after baliffs seized kobayashi's and ericsson's f1 cars.

They won't be missed. Bloody useless they are.

Caterham have taken us for £6,000 worth of prepreg carbon - not as bad as some creditors no doubt but still.

Unless they just have 2 eliminated instead of 5. Only 4 went out in Russia when Jules was missing. Oh and Vettel is missing too so that would make it just 1 out

What is it with US GPs and a lack of cars on the grid...

Yeah I find it odd. The US market should be massive for formula 1 teams.

It's certainly getting recognition out there, but is it enough? Obviously nascar is the biggest motorsport for the fans there, so maybe thats the problem?

On a seperate note, I saw a statement released by michael schumachers doctor saying the rehab could take up to 3 years, but his son said he's noticed an improvement which is good news.

Only the inbreds like NASCAR, it'd be a case of F1 appealing for the more discernable consumer really

What about indycar? Thats pretty big out there too iirc.

Mind you, an American team areentering F1 in a couple of seasons so maybe it's just too early to get the exposure needed over there?

In fairness it's nothing to do with the popularity of the sport. First time was the Michelin tyres being unsafe and this time it's the smaller teams in financial ruin, just coincidence it's happened when we've got a GP in america.

Marussia have now gone into admin too.

Seems weird all the hand wringing about problems in F1, as though this is the first time teams at the back have folded or teams have used paying drivers.

Poor old Max Chilton, even daddy's millions could not secure him a seat in a financially stable team.

Indycar has got declining audiences big time... Apparently.

Spoke to a few yank petrolheads this year, would mention someone like Alonso or Hamilton in conversation and the response was normally along the lines of "oh he's the Indy car guy right?". Even came up when talking about Schumi.

So indycar is basically the Motorsport which all known names fall into but isn't NASCAR

There are F1 fans off, but a grand total of 2 races per year fall into sociable hours territory for the east coast...

Seems Vettel won't take part in qualifying due to going over his engine quota, also Button gets a 5 place penalty for a gearbox change.

18 cars, a driver in hosp and it being Austin

Hoping there will be some good gentlemanly racing this weekend.
