Young is certainly a much better player, is younger and will be even better playing in a top team. Downing looks to have improved but he imo is at his level and at 27 with his stats is not a 15 million plus player.

Young probably is, just paid too much purely based on his contract having only a year left

I agree with that, although I think Young will suit Utd more than Downing would and vice versa.

Utd aren't a big side going forward, so don't necessarily need to throw crosses into the box, I think Young is more of a talent.

Downing however should do well at Liverpool with having Carroll up there to lob crosses in for.

if that is true what are Sunderland thinking, yes he is versatile but he is as slow as a canal boat and been a liability for us last season. Best departure from united for a long time.

£1m for brown is an absolute bargain, he is still a quality defender and would have loved him to stay as cover but he obviously wants to play every week. Good luck to him. No nonsense hard tackling defender.

Sunderland are definitely strengthening their squad this year, lack of strength in depth saw them plummet down the table january onwards, could be a good bet for the handicap or possible europe

TBH What you really needed was the change that has been made. IMHO anyone would have been better than that cunt Grant. I recon if he had been fired at xmas you would have stopped up. Going down will help remove some of the deadwood from the wage bill though.
