Tom the engine had a rebuild less than 10k miles ago so the rings are sound Just swapping the head over for my new rebuilt one because I accidently overfilled the car with oil which has knackered the valve stem seals.
Martin I did mate yeah sorry, had a right manic day today and have only just got out of work lol. I'll send you the like over in a sec
I'll be tinkering away over the weekend so hopefully ill have some progress to report then

Are you changing the cambelt tensioner and idlers too? Be silly to not change them while you are there, they fail more than the belts do.

Wasn't planning on Alex. They were done when I last changed the belt so I can't see them causing a problem as they've done hardly any miles. I'll see what they are like when I take the belt off anyway

Update as promised Today me and my mate Luke cracked on with stripping down the engine! Really pleased with the progress we made tbh. Considering neither of use are particularly mechanically minded there was only a couple of little bits we got stuck with so I think we did well
How it now stands!
Next job is to strip down is to start building up the new head and repaint a load of bits so that its nice and fresh Chuffed that ive finally made a start on it

Cheers Dan! and yeah it dont does it! finally done something with it now lol
Plenty of blankets over the painted bits Ash Its got quite grubby from oily hands but luckily managed not to scratch any of the engine bay paintwork *touch wood*. Just bits little the thermostat etc need a fresh coat of paint now. I have thought about a full respray mate yeah. Don't think i'll be doing it though as im paranoid enough about it getting damaged as it is lol.
Thanks Jrdn! heres the link for you -

Update time!
Now that I had the old head off the car the first thing I did was to strip it of all the bits that needed to be transfered onto the new one. I gave a few bits a respray so that they looked nice and fresh
Dug the new head out ready to crack on!
And then started building it up Wiring was also rerouted to hide the blue plug which alexW will approve of
Newman cams fitted!
Inbetween all this I gave the tops of the pistons a clean off and the little niggly bits of the bay which I can't usually clean properly
Then the head went on!
Cambelt on and all timed up
and heres how I've left it for today
Loving the new stainless steel rocker cover bolts! yummy
Next job is to paint the throttle body on the VX inlet black to tidy it up then finish off fitting everything in the week ready for the first start up next weekend all being well
