Yes CTRs are common but thats NOT actually a problem, theres a reason why u see so many CTRS and so few of its rivals... remember that
Seat Leon cupra R is a better car but got 5 doors

simple as this.... how much does a CTR cost? 20kish?
my car... got car for for nothing...
1x engine - 600 quid
1x set of coilovers 400 quid
several sets of brakes(dont ask )
how much is that? lets say 2k... i may have missed some stuff.
2k or 20k u decided...
and another thing... a CTR the older shape one.. is very much a chavy car over here.. the newshaped one is a bit more refined.

First of all, this silly thread started from someone wanting to street race.. grow up. its people like you that are to busy trying to race someone to see the kid walk in the road, or the car pull out in front, ... bang. game over for someone.

this is a little sad tbh, so you have to spend £££ to just annoy someone?!..
This thread is way out of hand, different people with different budgets buy different cars. u say everyone except robbo that owns a ctr is a chav etc, thats abit far fetched do you not think, im sure alot of people would say that about corsa/saxo owners or any other nippy car, where as im sure ur agree not everyone is that owns a small nippy car is a chav.
The civic type-r is just housing a Type-R engine, but weighed down with all the comforts of everyday driving. also yes they do suffer a traction problem, as does any high powered fwd car. so be realistic.
Im not slating corsa owners or civic owners, just think this situation is way out of hand for the original post.

Yes the civic started getting up my arse & clearly wanted to have a little play. I sensed this, the race developed from there.....
It took place on a dual carrigeway. No pedestrians are anywhere near it.

Is it?
My car is a toy, some toys cost more than others.
Its also a hobby
Far from sad in my opinion, but if you don't agree I respect that

sorry mabie i didnt explain that very well, i totally agree with following a hobbie as ive done on both my cars and most likely will on my next car ariving soon. but i dont see the reason to spend money to prove someone else wrong, i spend my money on my car for me, not so i can beat other cars (mabie at the pod or combe yes but not public).
The comment on the street racing is purely that ive had close family friends, killed + badly hurt due to a 3rd party racer, and it does more damage to everyone around the accident.
another point is police they are everywhere now, and if there not a lil yellow box is, and is proving a small point that will be forgot in a few days worth 3 points, higher insurance, mabie worse.
as i said this is a 3rd party point of view, not biast to anyone. id say the same to the civic owner.

Fair point Rob
I don't just own it to annoy people, its just one of the bonus's
I've had some right idiots before who've overtaken in such dangerous places, putting themselves, me & other drivers in danger
Sunday I had an Almera GTI overtake me & 3 other cars on the other side of the bollards dividing the road whilst going over the brow of a hill. Just because I'd overtaken him about 3 miles earlier on a straight flat road. Anything could've been coming on the other side of that hill. What a wanker
If its a wide open road I'll not be afraid to stick my foot down but the bottom line for me is I'd rather lose a race than mine/anybody elses life

its like computers, you can spend a lot and get a pre built one with loads of gimmicky bits that the real nerd doesn't use etc
or you can build your own with semi-decent parts and house it in a cereal box, saving money and getting something just as fast.
but we still drive "corsa's", say that to any person high up in the car industry/motor racing scene and they will laugh at you
fair enough build a corsa track car, or fast corsa as a 2nd car because you can, but most of us have corsa as our main and only car for many of CS users its their prized pocession

Big thread can't be arsed to read it all.
But a CTR will does and should beat a Corsa C20Xe....
Yours hasn't got a cooler if its the 1 in the pic. So he was shit or didn't try.
I don't own a CTR i own a Corsa C20XE. I drive a CTR sometimes. I can keep with it to 80-90. Then when i hit my longer 4th and his car thats more aero dynamic than a skip pulls away.
They have an LSD and piss over any car without 1. They grip really well. Half due to lack of torque albeit.
The facelift CTR is a fair bit quicker than the old 1. Which you probably raced.
CTRs run slow times on the strip because no1 can launch them.
Cleverly they dont rev above 5500rpm on the spot. (there rev limiter is pre vtec.)
I don't think many people no this. So you effectively have launch control!
