yup, Spax SSX 50mm kit. I will see how it performs, and if it copes...i will leave it, if not i may have some custom ones made up.

So far tho, it is spot on. Feels solid and very responsive.

Just need to get the sump sorted now...and the crank sensor is leaking too! so will have to find a way to seal that!

Saturday 10th January

Well i spent the day pulling the old flair apart today. Been a good car but it is just rusted through so i will feel bad if i dont pull it apart and get it off the road.

Spent about 4 hours or so pulling various bits off, and still have some major parts left to do.

Started with the front end...bumper, lights and grille all came off...girlfriend Lou took the mirrors off and unbolted spoiler whilst i was undoin the bumper.

Next problem was the doors. I had to have them off so someone could come and get them. The hinge pins were goosed...completely, so gettin them out was an absolute bugger.

They did eventually come off, and the bonnet was swapped for the other guys when he came to collect them all.

Leaving it like this at the end of day...

Few pics of the rust that was in the chassis leg and behind the bumper bar.

Anyone wants anything, let me know!

Well, i have a little update. I have been driving it for 10 days now, have passed the 250 miles mark and a few problems are starting to surface.

The CV boots are slipping off the hubs at about 50% turn. So im going to have to try and clean them up and re-apply them. I knew they would cause me a load of hassle.

Also, as the milage clocks up...there is a very high pitched squeal coming from the bottom pulley area. Its not the normal belt squeal...nowhere near that loud...but its much higher pitched. Plus it only happens between 2 and 3kish. I have no idea what it could be. There is the smallest amount of movement in the bottom pulley, as in less than 1mm, but i cant see that being the problem...and all the belts are at the correct tension.

So i have got my fair share of things to try and sort out on it. Day off is monday, so i will have to have a go then!

Other than that, the only jobs are to sort the fan switch out, and change the oil! Oh and re-seal the dipstick tube...

Well, lasty night i went to pick up some oil and filters that my good friend Paul W had got for me from Vaux (Trade Club ya see).

Was a good 50 mile motorway trip, so the revs were sat at a good 3-4k for most of the journey...and i was impressed. The motorway does not phase it at all, and it is so comfortable over distances, although the seats help this.

The high pitched noise was there on and off, but i ignored it and bombed on. (Didnt do it when i was coming home later on though.)

Anyways...i got 20L of 10w/40 and 7 filters! So thats the changes sorted for the next 3kish.

Also got some other things to try and sort today, the CV boots and the fan sensor wiring (although i appear to have lost the plug ).

p.s. i found out that when i go for it on the motorway...the fuel does then.....go

Well idid ma oil change today, even tho the weather was absolutely awful...loads of rain and quite a bit of snow.

Anyways, yea...i drained the oil, making sure as much as poss was drained. Also put some clean oil thru just to take any rubbish out from the bottom of the sump.

Replaced the filter, and also managed to get a bit more epoxy weld onto the bottom of the sump in an attempt to stem the flow of oil from the bottom until i get a new sump next month.

Also i retarded the timing by about 7 degrees. It idles a bit lumpier, but jesus it goes better! Feels far, far better.

CV's need another day...
