So, bought another XSI:
Hopefully make it look like this:
Bought it dirt cheap, needs a bit of work to make bring it up to scratch. Hell of a crunch going into 2nd, but ive got 2 spare boxes for when it does shit the bed altogether.
Also has a hell of an erratic idle, and i think its overfueling, as it stinks of fuel, and smokes when giving it boot:
Yes, it doesnt idle for more than 10 seconds
Need to figure out what wrong with it, its not any of the TB sensors, still need to try the coil pack, MAP sensor, etc etc.
Conversion was hellish rough, engine mount wasnt grinded enough so timing belt cover was left off. Also, the engine loom has been bodged so badly Ive bought another loom, will redo it myself.
Will get some more pics tomorrow

Try the lambda sensor, is it 2 connections like on the 8v?
Mine was overfuelling a tad, turns out one of the connectors had come undone.

Yup, its 16v.
Will try the lambda, got the GTI here to try parts from anyways. The loom is more than likely causing problems, ill have to take some photos of the state of it, who ever convered it cut off the plugs that go to the water temp sensor etc, and replaced them with spade crimp connectors

Engine bay pic is quite old i think, 16v badge is missing now, aswell as the prop, the piperx breather, and the filter is a bit worse for wear

Sounds loud in that vid, I'm tempted to strip all mine out but I'm not going to until I have the buckets and harnesses, steering wheel etc. It would just look daft.

Can't wait to see progress on it, are you highering the back at all? looks really low in your avatar, or is it just the angle?

It is pretty low, not as low as that now though, as it still had the full interior and a gearbox in the back. Its still on drums, ill leave it as it is for now, if/when I get a disk beam, ill set it a bit higher.

Well the repairs began today.
Turned out the idle issue was the wiring to the MAP sensor, ive ordered a whole loom as the whole thing has been bodged so badly, water and oil temp guages dont work, shocking, shocking wiring.
Pics:
Some of the wiring:
Paint is ordered for the wheels, will refurb them asap then get the 45 profiles on it, as 50 scrubs the arches on the front on lock.
Think ill get some miami blue paint from halfords, do the boot floor.

I'd be tempted to check the cam timing if all the power is coming in a 5k.
Looks like it will be a fun little weapon..
