the circle glass piece bends the light into a different direction and nothing else. iirc.
the prism splits the light into its colour spectrum (for lack of not being able to recall the right word).

i just google image searched "light through cylinder" and got this



not convinced thats what happens to the light spectrum when going through a cylinder. you can correct me if i'm wrong on that one though

aye thats what it was, it doesn't split the light just changes it, I got mixed up between the triangular and semi circle one.

just had it re-inflated.now i cant sleep due to the old guy next to me sounding as if he's 10minutes from death.
